  • Bit of a blinkered approach I know but these days, in the 4 miler, I just find the Gord horse, the Mullins horse and anything Jonjo O'Neil aims at it and back those AP and then just bet the remaining decent jockeys blind on the day. Seems to work !

I can't find the quote, but they said something about the further he goes the better he'll be. Leading to the thought that he'd be heading to the NH Chase.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

I read something recently about aiming for the NHC for Pencilfulloflead if it comes up soft/heavy the week of Cheltenham. I think it was a Mark Howard update. I’ll try and dig it out

          • I have backed Ontheropes for the 4 miler as I think he has the perfect profile. But, and it's a Kardashian sized but, he's rated fully 12lbs behind Galvin (139/151). That's a huge amount. Just proves what a good bet Galvin is. Only wish I'd have had more on him now !

Its only December Lobos and a lot can happen to ORs between now and then. I hope you have a saver on Court Maid Or 152 getting 7lb

I should really but I am only interested at this stage in finding Gordon, Willie and Jonjo's number 1's for the race. I'll the back the remaining best jockeys in the race blind on the day. Maybe Court Maid will be one of those.

This piece I read was from Declan Phelan who has connections with Robocor who own Pencil Full of Lead....
’Pencil Full of Lead will probably run in the grade 1 Novice Chase at Limerick over Christmas, his participation at the Cheltenham Festival will be dependent on soft/heavy ground arising with the National Hunt Chase his preferred race’

Thanks for the update. I hadn’t even considered the nh chase as an option after what he beat the last day and with GE not having an obvious standout rsa horse I assumed he would be targeted there.

Captain Guinness with another entry in a 2 mile chase on Friday at Punchestown - hopefully we will be able to see the course this time

I thought it strange too.Gordon Elliot has 3 horses in the top 10 betting in the RSA and none of them are expected to race in it. Apart from Envoi, Galvin and PFoL you’re looking at Escaria Ten, Braid Blue, Run Wild Fred and then possibly Andy Dufrense and none of these are convincing

Probs part of the reason Monkfish has gone as short as he has. Don’t forget Easywork mind

                          • Given we have short priced fav''s for the Arkle/Marsh/RSA and not a single horse priced under 10/1 in opposition, there must be gold in the streets for some pure EW acca filth

                            • With a lot of you mentioning the apparent lack of strength in depth to the RSA I've cashed out my Chantry House bets for the Marsh (for a small profit) and put it back in for the RSA. He's a standout biggest price 20-1 with 365 and I reckon that will go if he's declared for Friday. I know there's a chance he could run on the Saturday but his first run was a little lethargic and I imagine they'll try to avoid Envoi come March. Henderson also has Fusil Raffles for the Saturday race but nothing else entered for Friday, and JPs chasers all seem speedier 2 to 2 and a half mile types so I think its a bet worth risking.

Not a bad shout. A bit early to pull the trigger for me but something like EDA (Arkle), Energuneme (Marsh) and Easywork (RSA) all 25/1 with 365 or similar could be worth a shout depending on what entries look like overs next few weeks
