No, not lacking any honesty anyway based on the way he went through that gap after jumping the last in the AB.

    • Decent technique over a fence (to my untrained eye) from Next Destination.

Will need to improve still but RSA slips aren't in the bin....

Kalooki didn't jump well but is a decent enough scalp to take....

      • Good chase debut from next destination

he is pretty quick from one side to the other

khalooki jumped very poorly so not sure what to make of the form

        encouraging going forward

        • Jumped lovely did Next Destination.
Half disappointed he didn’t put more daylight between him and the field could raise a question about his ability, wouldn’t be shocked to see him in the Ultima...

Yeah no real errors and stays well as we know nice enough that. Be interested to see how he's campaigned or any quotes after today.

            • Very happy with Next Destination.

To step into Grade 2 company on chase debut and win, having raced for the first time in 900 days only 30 days prior to this takes some doing. He is clearly very well in himself and not feeling any ill effects from Wetherby.

Should be even better on softer ground and I can't wait to see him pitched into deeper waters

Keep in mind before 30 days ago he hadn't raced for 900 days. Expecting daylight between him and the rest off the back of that would be asking a little too much, IMO,

                • That was a as good a start as you’d want from a staying chaser by Monkfish. I’m not a backer so I have no financial gain from him but that lays down a marker for the division. The RSA is never a foregone conclusion as so many horses improve for fences and that trip, but he’ll be in the mixer for sure.

                  • Hills are still 20/1 Next Destination for any race

That’s a fair point but I was assuming to be out so soon again they have him fit and firing.
The proximity of the runner up would concern me though it’s entirely possible he has improvement to come...

                      • Crickey, 365 have slashed Next Destination to 10/1

A lot shorter than I'd have guessed he'd have been cut to.

I suppose winning a Grade 2 on chase debut justifies that cut to some extent?

If he wasn't with Nicholls that'd have me backing him.... probably

You see PFN as a negative? I have him as a positive for staying chasers

That wasn't quite my point, it was more the level of excitement I get from a 2m chaser as opposed to the slower horses over a fence. I'm aware why they don't do it, as you pointed out

Eh?? He's known for his staying chasers and more importantly has the trophy cabinet to back it up.

ND can still be boosted with Hills to 27/1 for the RSA
