  • I've added Chantry House for the RSA @ 40/1. I am firmly set the target is the Marsh Chase but I hold the horse in high regard and plans change. It's not really too clear who JP's RSA horse will be, they could easily swerve Envoi Allen - and I just thought for 0.5pts @ 40/1 it was the right type of bet given I managed to wrap Chantry up yesterday for the Marsh @ 46/1.

Interesting I was thinking the same but took a different angle... I was mulling over it for a while but think my mind is at rest (slightly) killing two birds with one stone! I was having the same dilemma with Bob Olinger and the supreme. Thought it over to back him in it as have him in ballymore, but came across a RAB for BO and CH to place ANY race. Now some might see the 10/1 on the short side and a bit of a muggy bet but it was reasonably in my head to do this to cover Bases incase BO drops, and or CH goes up in trip. Both out today so time to press the button!

Annoyingly 22s is available for BO place Ballynore and CH place ANY. But I'm content with my position atm, but that may change over the next few hours...

In fact, when was the last time that Nicky Henderson and JP McManus both failed to have a single horse quoted in the top 20 of the betting for the RSA betting by mid November?

Seems quite short for a horse after 1 win in the UK. I’m guessing he came with a big reputation from France but he’s only been running in small fields over hurdles. He’s got a Chase rating of 153 off the back of 1 run and win. Am I being a bit naive or ignorant but I can’t see what the justification is for being 16/1?? He’s only won 1 small field race in France out of 3. Is it bookmaker fear that he’s potentially a good thing or early season hysteria
Nicholls has said he'd only end up at the Festival (and name checked the Arkle) if he was to come out and bolt up next time out in the Henry VIII.

            • No Elixir D'Ainay in the Beginners Chase at Navan on Sunday, which is a little disappointing, given WPM has used that race for a lot of his Arkle hopefuls (as per SW's brilliant thread).

Only Blackbow entered (for WPM), who on the bare face of it would have little chance in an Arkle.

              • I think JP may have had a wedge or 2 on chantry house for the Marsh before he runs today! Just been slashed to 12/1 across the board I see!

                • Chantry looked a bit lazy then, probably went slow enough and he thought he was going for a picnic.

                  • Jump at the second last was very nice indeed I have to say! I think he was getting on top of Pic when he fell but we’ll never know for certain.

Nico did need to keep him going needed a couple reminders and boosted into a couple down the back. Did it well enough though.

Yes real shame that. Would have been very interesting to see what happened. CH looks ready for a step up in trip already.

                        • Not really sure what to make of that. No pace and a few scrappy/slow jumps early from Chantry - I think he would have had the measure of Pic D'ohry but couldn't be 100%. It is a shame as it would have given the form some substance. He jumped the last two like Sprinter Sacre so it wasnt all bad. I am sure Chantry's next run will tell us plenty more.

                            • The Ferny Hollow/Bob Olinger race played out perfectly for me. I have a good bit on Ferny Hollow for the Supreme which I believe l, on viewing today, is the perfect race and it'll take a good one to beat him. I backed Bob Olinger at 33s for the Albert Bartlett but not too much, Ballymore is still a big possibility for him although I hope not.

Did my absolute b******ks on I Can't Explain on NYD in 2019 - wondered where he'd got to.
