  • Bit novicey at times and will be better left handed, but he's got an engine has Felix.

    • Happy with Felix there, although Darver obviously needs a step up he didnt seem to enjoy that one bit, but will give him another chance once stepped up.

      • Don't like any of those for the arkle.
Felix might get compettitive, but jumping straight is still preferred.
He did well to win today. The way the race panned out.

        • Thought the cash out would have been kinder! Will let it ride and HOPE was ground rather than trip...

          • Darver definitely needs a trip, whether he is good enough not too sure.

Each way place looks like his best chance.

Agree about Asterion, clearly has plenty of ability but I wouldn’t go near him for cheltenham, crazily right when under pressure would be wrong for mullins to let him go left handed imo.

            • Cash out for Darver Star is shocking...will have to keep the faith for now. Disappointing.

Hes won on heavy before so can't really use that as an excuse. Very disappointing.

                • My first reaction (and I only watched it on my phone) was we haven't see an Arkle winner there.
Perhaps it was just going right handed but he didn't make lengths at any of his fences, which is what you want.
He was making up the ground between the fences, not jumping them.

Had more in hand and probably makes him an easier ride now though.

Darver Star surely goes up in trip now. But he looked a bit lifeless really.

                  • Not sure what to make of DS. On that showing he'd struggle to be competitive regardless of the trip as he never really traveled. Another disappointment and he'll back back over hurdles imo.

He beat Fast Buck getting 3lb by a length! Hardly proof he is as good on heavy to me. As I say, you can't deny it was poor, but think he's a much better horse on better ground. Certainly doesn't look like he will be winning an Arkle and isnt in the same league as EA. One I'd like to write off for the Festival. if the cashout wasnt quite as bad!

Agree, engine got him out of trouble was very average at his fences. Still would rather see him at Aintree than chelt if coming over.

                        • All these people now saying Darver needs the step up in trip, where were you when I was saying it all summer

Just to play Devil's Advocate, his 2m form is still pretty good isn't it - he just didn't run well today.

Watched that back and Darver doesn’t look happy at all, his jumping was quite slow so although definitely not want you want for an Arkle hard to be happy losing lengths in any race.

He was running on but not sure a step up would make him a good proposition. Somehow cashout was 10% profit so I’ve taken it.

I’d agree about the trip 100% Kev, only backed him for the Marsh.

Looking at what could go there I’m not sure he is good enough. As per my previous comment have cashed out for small profit.

I don’t see him beating any potential runners in the Marsh from Ireland if I’m honest, got out while I can. May regret it but I don’t see him being a threat come March.

Yep thats the crux of it Kev. Poor run today so easy to over analyse the rest of his form.
