  • I'm not one usually to ditch horses after one run given we have no idea of fitness, and novices do improve at different rates as the season goes on. However, I came very close to ditching If The Cap Fits. He has all the ability in the world but didn't look a natural over fences.

I've decided to stick for now, but I'll be hovering over the button all the way through his second chase.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

      • Keith Donoghue’s comments RE Easywork taking on EA

“I'd be going up in trip with him rather than back to 2 miles. I don't think he is the quickest horse in the world and it would be interesting to see if stays 3 miles over fences in time.”

he does say that no one has had the conversation yet and they’re his own thoughts but still interesting for those on @ 33’s

        • Another blowout from Sporting John - couldn't have him for anything after that until he shows at least some spark.

Fiddler looked to need every yard of that against a modest rival - I wonder whether they may even look to push him out to 3m.

          • Sporting John disappointing there

            • 365 have cut Easywork to 25s. Still good value in my eyes.

              • Fiddlerontheroof only just getting the better of Silver Hallmark, hardly inspiring stuff given Fiddlerontheroof had a race fitness edge on SH & Sporting John.

Sporting John looked as though he was going to move into contention, before hitting a wall and ending a fair way back from the front two. His jumping was OK for a debut, he did make a couple of mistakes, but I'm sure this will improve, that said to be defeated as far as he was must be of concern and he'll likely have no chance in the main novice chases based on that performance.

The odds should be going the other way

It seems that Tizzards have needed their first run as Ofalltheginjoints also won today despite disappointing FTO. Hopefully this is a change to a more gradual campaign throughout the season with them peaking in March... I can only hope

If TBB stands his ground on Saturday I won't be too disheartened should he get beat.

Tweeted similar early not for folk to get carried away as the two that won today were on second starts etc.I can't agree with Ofalltheginjoints disappointing first up thou, cruised around and but for a late blunder would possibly have won and that looks a decent novice hcap chase he ran in. The runner up today of Nicholls must have a fair engine as he made so many mistakes yet stayed in contention the whole way.

It will be interesting to see if all his horses improve on their second runs as most of them should start to reappear again in the coming weeks.

                          • Interesting father and son quotes directly contradicting each other on Fiddler's target.

Colin Tizzard: target is the feltham

He would have to be of interest in the feltham given the trainers recent record in the race. Dipper I am less warm about but would love to see him put his festival run behind him there.

                            Time will tell.

Most can't run much worse tbf, being on Copperhead for the Ladbrokes I'm hoping so.

Running any worse would mean going backwards
