I'm asking if we have evidence that the Donnolly's would go out of their way to have a horse run in a specific race?
Just repeating myself, but it's dangerous to assume... if you owned a horse and had Patrick Mullins telling you, you'd win the NH Chase, and that Monkfish is a better horse, do you think they'd put their foot down and demand he ran in the RSA?
That's a leading question of course.... but still.....
He may well end up a better prospect than Monkfish, what do you think Ricci will do? Demand he wins the 'better race' or just wants the winner?

Every owner wants a Festival winner. TBG would be a strong fav in the NHC and the likely winner imo which is hard to say with my Galvin bets but nonetheless that's what I think. It's not like it's a crap race and it can be used as a stepping stone to the Gold Cup.

Like you say if he progresses going chasing and ends up winning a G1 prior to the festival then they won't be heading for the NHC would they?

Why didn't they try Melon in the Arkle or RSA if they care so much about the prestige of the races? Surely they'd have wanted a Champion Chaser, not a Ryanair Horse? So why did they run him in the Marsh? -------- that logic doesn't add up in my opinion.
Also, it's not like there have never been Gold Cup horses from the NH Chase despite it's much shorter history.... I'm just saying you shouldn't assume he's "sure to go for the RSA"... it's far from a sure thing?
It is unlikely that if he wins a G1 on route to the festival he runs in the NH Chase though, I absolutely agree with that.... so essentially that's what it boils down to - and I don't think it's "sure" that he does.... he doesn't seem the most likely G1 3 mile chaser in the yard at the moment, but that can all change quickly as they've not actually jumped yet

He’s still a price I’d consider if it wasn’t for my concerns over the ground.
I personally think he will be even better on better ground because he'll be allowed to attack his fences and then not have to take a pull afterwards as his jumping already looks good.

Can anyone remember why Mullins didn't have a runner in the RSA 2 years ago? presume one of his must of got injured close to it but cant remember off the top of my head.
Patrick got his way the last 2 years and I think he will again with TBG and hopefully get chinned on the line by Galvin
