He won't give up either. He just has to be backed in that race. He'd be fav surely if he went for it.

      • Was is last year the rumour is he purposefully didn't enter Carefully Selected for the RSA?

I'd love that to be true

          I think it was true.

          • I think they knew he was poor jumper and they thought in the weaker race over the longer trip they thought they might get away with it.

            • Yes it was true and the year before Ballyward was not entered in the RSA either. Willie jokes that Patrick must have been doing the entries that day but there must be some truth in it. He definitely seems to be getting his way a bit more anyway from what I can see. Might have helped that Ruby is gone. Patrick had some book of rides last years festival.

Patrick certainly got his way last year when CS wasn't even qualified until for the NHC until the 26th of January and if he came down in that race would have had to be supplemented for the RSA. I fully expect Monkfish to be aimed at the RSA leaving the NHC open for CS in an ideal world. Patrick wants to ride TBG anyway by the sounds for it and is in love with the horse. I'm hoping he gets his way again.

I was a massive fan of his after his hurdles debut, and he was initially my main Supreme hope last season, until that Leopardstown run. I could and do absolutely forgive him for his Limerick display, over a trip likely to be plenty too far at a track that is most notably a bog, and against a horse that ran a blinder at the festival behind the superstar that is Envoi Allen. When he won his on his hurdles debut there were a few on here that said he had beaten nothing, but them nothings turned into a second placed horse, Jason The Militant, who has won three times since, including a Grade 2 Hurdle, and a third placed horse, The Very Man, who won 4 of his next 6 starts. He beat them with relative ease.

I'm still baffled by what happened at Leopardstown, as were connections, but based on that chase debut he showed that whatever it was could well be behind him. It's gutting that Captain Guinness went wrong as I'd have liked to have seen how he fared against Unexcepted at the end of the race, to give the form a little more substance, which is my guess as to why the prices remain as they do.

I'm not sure on his limitations over fences, but he is certainly an exciting front running, bold jumping prospect, much like his half brother, Great Field.
So annoying alright that Captain Guinness went wrong. Really looking forward to seeing Unexcepted out again. Great spot by Eggs putting up the double special

“Elixir D’Ainay and Asterion Forlonge, who both ran in the Supreme (Novices’ Hurdle) last season, will be going chasing – they both schooled well too.

Marty is the one who requested that bet too, he's just too shy to admit it

                      • Not that it was ever really in doubt, but Nicky has said that Shishkin goes chasing and is a genuine two miler who’ll be aimed at the Arkle.

From his unibet vlog on novice chasers.

Chantry House goes two and a half.

Given the owner/trainer combo, provided they’re all good enough and remain injury free, it’s highly likely that Janidil, Elixir D’Ainay & Unexcepted will be split between the Arkle, Marsh & RSA. I’ve backed both Elixir D’Ainay & Unexcepted for the Arkle, and it will be interesting to see how elixir is campaigned this season as last season prior to March it looked as though they thought he wanted more of a trip, before he dropped back down to 2 miles for the supreme and although he got brought down at a critical point it was looking like a serious run from him there.

With only one run wouldn’t want to go chasing yet.

Still nothing about Dickie Diver yet.
