Yes it was true and the year before Ballyward was not entered in the RSA either. Willie jokes that Patrick must have been doing the entries that day but there must be some truth in it. He definitely seems to be getting his way a bit more anyway from what I can see. Might have helped that Ruby is gone. Patrick had some book of rides last years festival.
Patrick certainly got his way last year when CS wasn't even qualified until for the NHC until the 26th of January and if he came down in that race would have had to be supplemented for the RSA. I fully expect Monkfish to be aimed at the RSA leaving the NHC open for CS in an ideal world. Patrick wants to ride TBG anyway by the sounds for it and is in love with the horse. I'm hoping he gets his way again.

I was a massive fan of his after his hurdles debut, and he was initially my main Supreme hope last season, until that Leopardstown run. I could and do absolutely forgive him for his Limerick display, over a trip likely to be plenty too far at a track that is most notably a bog, and against a horse that ran a blinder at the festival behind the superstar that is Envoi Allen. When he won his on his hurdles debut there were a few on here that said he had beaten nothing, but them nothings turned into a second placed horse, Jason The Militant, who has won three times since, including a Grade 2 Hurdle, and a third placed horse, The Very Man, who won 4 of his next 6 starts. He beat them with relative ease.
I'm still baffled by what happened at Leopardstown, as were connections, but based on that chase debut he showed that whatever it was could well be behind him. It's gutting that Captain Guinness went wrong as I'd have liked to have seen how he fared against Unexcepted at the end of the race, to give the form a little more substance, which is my guess as to why the prices remain as they do.
I'm not sure on his limitations over fences, but he is certainly an exciting front running, bold jumping prospect, much like his half brother, Great Field.

“Elixir D’Ainay and Asterion Forlonge, who both ran in the Supreme (Novices’ Hurdle) last season, will be going chasing – they both schooled well too.
