decent round of jumping today.... actually was decent!!!

    • Positive reading from Joseph, for any Arkle backers?

      Embittered
was a high-class bumper horse and he transitioned well to hurdling last season. He did a lot in his first five starts over hurdles. Having made a winning hurdling debut, he was fast-tracked into Grade 1 novice company. He didn't quite come up to that level at the time, so we switched him to handicaps. Considering his inexperience, he did very well, finishing third in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

He has always had the look of one that would make a chaser. He has plenty of size and scope. We have a few nice horses to go novice chasing this season and he is right up there with the pick of them. We'll start him at two miles and will step him up in trip if he looks in need of it, but he has never looked short of pace. He should be ready to run by late-October or early-November. He's exciting.

      • Might be worth reading Hurdles or Chasing's diary, for those interested in a GE runner.

If Darver Star ain't winning an Arkle or a Marsh then Embittered might as well stay in his stable.

Should have backed him for the bigger priced, NH Chase than Any Race then shouldn't you

In all seriousness, well done, that was a very good shout, and you were on very early.

Fingers crossed he gets there in one piece.... he's going to be single figures if so.

                • Obviously people will read it anyway, but this one is a bit bananas isn't it? Battleoverdoyen

We haven’t made a final decision with this fella, but I’d be very interested to see what he’s do if we dropped him right back in trip to two miles. The Fortria Chase at Navan is an option. He travelled over to Cheltenham better this year than he did last year, but I thought he just didn’t get the trip in the RSA Chase and a drop in distance might just suit him.

He goes novice chasing and is obviously hugely exciting. The intention is to start him off in a maiden chase at Down Royal later this month. At the minute I’m thinking that we’ll keep him to mid-range trips in the main this season. While he would have a chance of being a top-class hurdler if we left him over them, we probably stayed over hurdles for too long with Samcro and I don’t want to make that mistake again. He was bought to be a Gold Cup horse and that’s what we are going to give him the chance to be. We were happy with him when he came back in from his break, but he’s a horse that seems to do better in work than out of work. We can’t wait to see him back on track.

I like the fact he referenced the Samcro decision.... partly because I used it as my reasoning right at the start of the thread and I like to boast.

Agree, should have at least had a small pop on for the race but got a tidy bit on TWAR so happy enough. Fact is, it's probably his best chance of winning so I'm glad he's going that way. Still needs to finish in top 4 next race though to qualify so a bit of work to do yet.

Yeah, fair play, you called it very early. Not one for boasting me though......

All horses must have a minimum BHA rating of 120 to participate. Horses must have run in at least two chases and must have finished in the first four in a chase staged over an extended two miles and seven and a half furlongs or further.

Galvin has already ticked once box so he'll know (or at least be told) Galvin will need to go up in trip
