  • Do you think we’re over estimating the number of top novice hurdlers that are going chasing this season?? From the top 5 finishers in the 3 graded novice hurdles at last seasons festival only 3 are expected to stay over hurdles at the moment (Abracadabras, Thyme Hill and Fury Road). Surely more of this list of 15 will stay over hurdles this season??

Definitely. There simply isn't room for them all to go chasing and some will school like pigs.

TBG was never going to make a hurdler and did well to perform as he did. Mullins makes no secret of how much he is looking forward to seeing him over fences. I agree with you that he'll end up being his number 1 RSA horse.

        • Column Of Fire @ 33/1 looks a good bet to me in the RSA.

I have to keep backing all the Giggs horses with free bets now, can't bring myself to use anymore cash guessing where they all will end up. Column Of Fire could end up anywhere, from a handicap (only rated 145 over hurdles) to the Marsh or RSA, he is a difficult one to place currently.

True, its a bit of a guessing game. I am convinced Column Of Fire's hurdle rating was scumbagged a bit for the Martin Pipe and he was actually a quite a bit better than his rating suggested. Time will tell. Hopefully he follows the same route at Don Poli.

He was significantly better than his mark and if anything, should go even higher over fences. I think he'll be good enough for open company if he goes chasing and won't need to form part of the 'handbrake squad' like he was this year.

Some very good previous winners of that race.

Good signs for NH Chase backers....

and the any race backers at shorter odds

I hope he takes that up rather than the hurdle race.

As previously mentioned, Rathvinden and Galvin same ownership, Ronnie Bartlett , so it looks like Galvin is going the same tried and trusted route to the NHC. Looks like we've made the right call. Nice when the Jigsaw comes together.
