Hello Fat Jockeys,

Agree bigtime. He looked every inch a chaser last season. Surprised he did as well as he did. When Mullins talks about him he almost cracks a smirk. I think he likes him a lot. Convinced he's his RSA horse which is why I think he'll try and get Monkfish in the Stayers which might not be popular on here............I'm ready for the onslaught.

For me they’re small stakes races until I know much more about targets...
Absolutely. I'm on then all TWAR for exactly the same reasons.

Haha it won't be popular, no. I also have a note to back Monkfish for the Stayers at some point with cash out.

Mullins is holding us all to ransom with his army of decent novices. We are like little puppets on a string waiting for his next move. This time of year is always very precarious but at the same time highly entertaining. I love it trying to second guess these guys. Getting better at it as the years go by.

He went into my notebook ahead of the festival simply because his trainer said it’d be one for next season. I had a small interest in it for the RSA in April @ 44-1, crazy how it’s price has collapsed.
I think there’s just a lot of false prices this year with more people getting involved earlier during lockdown, with nothing to bet on.

Yes, I think you are spot on there. Any excuse for the bookies to grab the upper hand.

I reckon fences would suit Cedarwood Road and a step up in trip. Marsh as an early guess, though it's early days.
Both are interesting Lobos and probably under the radar
Cedarwood Road out of Stowaway. Same sire as Monkfish , Put The Kettle On, Fiddlerontheroof, Champagne Fever, Fury Road and many more.

I requested the Hills price on the 6th April and they added at 40/1 (44/1 boosted). Andy Holding tipped him up on the 14th April so that caused the price crash. Oddschecker shows 33/1 as the first cut but I’m pretty sure he ended the day at 20/1.

                  • Monkfish will be RSA bound. I know willie mentioned stayers, but he was brought to be GC horse and chaser, I can’t see them wasting a year over hurdles.

100% agree. In my opinion it would take some awful performances over fences for him to be running over hurdles this season.

Not if he starts over hurdles. Willie does like having a crack at the Stayers and Monkfish would have a huge chance in it. Some say he mentioned the Stayers tongue in cheek but why mention it at all ? It's at the back of his mind I feel. Love this time of year when we are all trying to second guess Willie. We don't have a hope !

I'll eat a Scoop 6 slip if Monkfish starts out over hurdles

My guts could be ruined by the end of the season

                          • In Ruby's 10 to follow for this season he goes Monkfish RSA but says he could go NHC if Envoi goes RSA. He says Fury Road NHC, Envoi Marsh, Thyme Hill Stayers, Goshen Churdle, Honey Mares Hurdle, Benie Mares Chase, Shiskin Arkle, Chancun Champion Chase and Billaway Foxhunter. All picked 4 months ago. Be happy with that lot !!

                            • I think with Fury road the trip brings out the best in him at the DRF it wasn't quite what he needs, then at Cheltenham the improvement came, im certainly interested in him for the national hunt chase but all over him for the RSA also

I just get the impression he isn't quite classy enough for the RSA . The NHC would be the perfect race for him imo. Whether he ends up there is another story. Gordon has Easywork who surely avoids Envoi again in the Marsh. He fits nicely into the RSA picture for me with Fury going the '4 Mile' route .Doubled those 2 up that way for a tidy return.
