  • I agree, not smashing the last may well have made a big difference to how good that looked. Ultimately he's won is nicely hasn't he....

However, any horse with Grade 1 aspirations should be beating Stormy Ireland quite easily. She's a listed/grade 3 winner at best. She's a bit flattered by her grade 1 placings too as they're in Mares events where she's been thrashed or has benefitted from a faller.

That doesn't take away from what Eldorado Allen did, of course. I'm going to hold on, maybe see if PP price him up at 25/1.

      He was very good, mostly.
Is Tizzard your most backed trainer this year?

I know someone previously highlighted him for the Arkle on this forum, but I was surprised to see he wasn’t priced up already by bookies.

I’ve tweeted paddy power and Betfair for a price, does anyone know what to tweet 365 to get a horse added please?

I know the trainer wouldn’t be the most likely winner of a Cheltenham race, maybe more heart then head and can’t imagine he’ll be there i popular on the forum but i can be guilty of backing horses when they’ve done me favours before.
Highway one o two - 40-1 with corals for the Arkle Willdun.

I think Elliot said in his interview most of his horses need the run for fitness and it looks that way then. From what I can gather Limerick is one of the toughest courses in Ireland to race and RWF did well until the last furlong there.
I think you watched a different race to me. His jumping was awful, lost ground at most fences and jumped way too high at others.

I did state he was taking off too early and jumping high at his fences which did lose him momentum but I thought he travelled well enough. It’s his Chase debut and had a replacement jockey onboard after Davy Russel got injured so that didn’t help.

I honestly didn’t see many positives to take from that run. He didn’t look a natural at all, if you’ve got a cash out option available I’d take it.

Unfortunately I don’t as I opted for the TWAR route and mostly with free bets but I’d be confident he’ll improve from that race. It was reported soft ground at Limerick today that’s a test in itself apparently and apart from the last he cleared all his fences, I be more concerned if he was struggling to get over them.

                • Always dangerous to dismiss a horse after its first run of the season. Shame the bookies didn’t push run wild fred out as I’ll certainly be giving him another chance.

                  • Quel Destin due to go chasing this year. Looked like an out and out 2 miler last year. Looked all over the winner against William Henry last Feb until fading badly over the last 1/2 furlong over 2 ml 3f, Thomas Derby in 3rd. Beat Eldorado Allen by 9l previously giving3lb. Bet365 offering 33/1 with cash out for the Arkle. 155 rated as a hurdler- whats not to like

At least you might get a run for your money in a handicap hurdle

Thanks for the heads up, 365 added today at 66/1 so i have taken that EW. I was confident he would have been in the mix today, Shame he was a non-runner due to drying ground. Looking forward to him running !

                        • Run Wild Fred was very disappointing, jumped big and slow at all his fences and found little towards the end. Was expecting a lot more.

The race in Newton Abbot turned out to be an average enough event. Stormy Island was the best horse in the race but jumped poorly for the first half of the race, losing lots of energy at every fence. Hard to envisage anything these two races winning a G1

Runs at Bath Again on Wed, wonder if they have him fit this time or just having a blow out as last year?he really should be hacking up off 68 in that sphere.

Wouldn't be too disheartened with Run Wild Fred- he has taken a run in the past to get fit. I wouldn't have him on my mind personally at this stage for a G1 at Cheltenham but he'll likely be a decent horse in time.

As for the Stormy race, i'd disagree with that. Looked a decent race + decent performance.

I may be proved wrong but id be very surprised if Stormy didnt turn around the form if they met again. Tizzards horse jumped very well, while Stormy was supposed to have schooled well over the larger obstacles for wpm. She looked like she hadnt seen a fence before the way she jumoed the first 4 or 5. Id expect massive improvement from her in that regard, and couldnt really see her challenging for a G1 later in the season tbh
