Totally agree Ray, after the first couple bombed at the festival it was easy to conclude that day at ascot was very gruelling to then have time to recover for the festival.

Until I saw evidence otherwise I take precisely that view Billy. If he's entered up at Cheltenham in October or November and proves he can act around there I'd have some interest. If not I wouldn't touch him.

        • What is the thoughts on Beacon Edge going Novice chasing this year? https://www.racingtv.com/news/meade-...hopes-for-edge

I see he is not priced up in any markets yet would someone mind requesting him preferably on Bet365 for all Novice chases and possible throw in a few others horses when requesting as I don’t want the standard 33/1 most bookies seem to offer when requesting 1 horse. I would only be interested in this Horse for the Arkle out of the 3 Novice chases.

Given a few on here have mentioned Andy Dufrense as possible going the Arkle route and Cedarwood Road is priced up at 40/1 for Arkle, I would certainly be interested in Beacon Edge if I could get 40/1+ preferably 50/1.

          See below Noel Meade’s record in the Arkle since the year 2000;

          Noel Meade Record - since 2000 - 5 Runners = 2 placed, 1 came 4th, 1 came 11th and 1 fell while leading 3 out.

          1 runner - 2011 - finished 3rd - Realt Dubh
          1 runner - 2006 - finished 4th - Wild Passion (13 Runners)
          2 runners - 2005 - finished 4th &11th with (19 Runners)
1 runner - 2000 - fell 3 out while leading by 1 length and “still going comfortably”.

Given 4 of his 5 runners would of certainly given you a run for your money in the race not a trainer to dismiss if a runner turns up in the Arkle.

Interested to hear the thoughts on Beacon Edge. I have put Beacon Edge up as a “Dark Horse”, with more information on his previous runs on the Dark Horse thread as well.

I really am looking forward to Cedarwood Road jumping a fence. He does look like he's made for chasing.

              • A mate messaged with regards to Paul Ferguson's book. I won't post sections as you should stump up the cash for the book, but the Cheveley Park guy said RSA for Envoi Allen and Jamie Codd mentions stepping up in trip too.

That'll be a big blow to many on here IF that were to happen.

Gordon will likely be the one who actually decides though, to be fair.

                  • This going to be like last seasons supreme / ballymore argument for at least the next 5 months. Can't wait.

                      • A lot will depend on the weather/ground. This year one more deluge whilst Gordon walking the course would have seen him in the Supreme. It'll likely go to the wire again. Good ground/decent forecast and RSA will be favourite. Soft ground and poor forecast and Marsh will be where he ends up.

                        • The good thing is it opens up the Marsh potentially to other big price horses but the bad news is the RSA gets ever more confusing !

This is exactly as I see it. If the ground is soft I really can't see him running in the RSA.

Exactly. Rather than covering Envoi Allen for the RSA (I have not backed him anyway), I'd advise backing Chantry House for the Marsh instead.
