  • Ontheropes just screams Patrick's ride in the 4 miler doesn't he ? If he's not injured i can't imagine him going anywhere else. His run behind Monkfish would surely put him right up there with Galvin. Mullins doesn't appear to have anything else yet that's qualified and it's getting to the point where there are not many remaining opportunities for horses to qualify.

Shiskin (7), Envoi (8), Paisley Park (4), Minella Indo (25)
        Shiskin (7), Envoi (8), Paisley Park (4)
        Shiskin (9/2), Envoi (6), Thyme Hill (16)
Shishkin (3), Envoi (9/4), The Bosses Oscar (20), Wide Receiver (33)
You must have been exceptionally quick to grab those Shishkin & Envoi A prices! Did you literally grab them within an hour of the Ballymore finishing?

Well done. I was going to say - Paisley’s disappointing run had seen him lengthen to 7 & 8/1 for 2021 so I knew it would have to been pre Stayers on the Thursday. Getting 5 on Shishkin and 7/1 on Envoi Allen (done 1 huge single on him at 7’s for the Marsh but as ever, wished I’d done a whole lot more when he went 9/2 shortly after - that’s when I got busy!) are my 2 biggest winners.
Totally the most unoriginal choices, but with prices from the Gods. Our fingers are all crossed they can make it there healthy, fit and very much on form.

            • They were 5/1 (Shishkin) and 6/1 (Envoi) on the Saturday after.

Yep, you are bang on Mr Kevloaf. The 6’s was only available if I recall with Paddy Power which I took, but unfortunately (potentially) decided to do a double with both Abacadabras and Goshen for the champ hurdle as I thought they were the 2 key protagonists who would shorten considerably over the Summer months. Alas....

The 6/1 price for Envoi actually held up with Paddy Power for a week after and then just shortened straight to 9/2.

                • I like Ontheropes for the NHC for Mullins, surely looks his runner.

Unless he runs something in the same race Carefully Selected qualified in at the end of Jan, at Naas.

Saxon Warrior may be best to tell if this card is still happening this season? 3m grade 3 novice chase it was.

“We’ll have a little chat with the lads (owners) and see what our options are,” the trainer added.

“It would be a fair battle to try and beat Monkfish again, with Cheltenham in mind, but we’ll certainly enter him and see what we think is the best thing to do.

“He’ll be entered in all the novice chases in Cheltenham bar the Arkle. You’ve got the RSA and the Marsh Novices’ Chase — and the National Hunt Chase is an option, too.

“We won’t rule out anything yet.”

Wasn’t unfancied for the Ballymore last season, has been plenty tried at 16-20f are you thinking he’s always been a stayer in the making and keeping the horse to shorter trips is an elaborate plan ?
Perhaps the Kim Muir if that’s the case ?

                          • Agreed

I had him in mind for either the NHC or the kim muir depending on whether he won or not

That win probably takes him out of the Kim Muir, if he was 139 Irish rated before he won.

                              • Martin Brassil on Longhouse Poet- “He’s a horse that we always thought would need a trip & he handles the ground. He had the experience from his few runs over fences & he was fit. He’s not a Grade 1 horse so we may look at novice handicaps in the spring over an extended trip.”
