Excellent news, thanks for posting Outlaw.

I backed him for the RSA @ 33/1 before his hurdles bow. That couldn't have gone much better and I said to myself after that it will be a massive plus if Paul enters him in a chase roughly 30 days later i.e. showing he's obviously come out of the race well, and it didn't take it's toll.

I agree, profile wise he doesn't scream RSA, but he's lightly raced for his age and has some decent form in the book. I can't see PN with any quoted towards the top of the RSA market so the once upon a time 10/1 RSA fav could end up being his RSA horse - as you point out he doesn't send many NHC.

I am hopeful more than anything else at this stage

With 365 you can get out of the bet, the any race commits you.... this far out, with a horse who has missed time in his career, I'd rather be able to ditch it than commit to having him.

The closer we got to the festival the sliding scale would shift but now, I think RSA and NH Chase with cash out are better than any race, whilst bigger prices...
Valid points & the injury is enough to cast doubt, the cash out keeps coming & going on plenty of accounts and I think a few have mentioned horses being removed from markets if flopping ?
Like I said I haven't backed him yet & i would only entertain him for the NH chase this far out tbh, weigh it up if declared.

Yeah, if he flopped though, would 22/1 be a good price? He'd definitely be bigger than that and if you only were interested in one target, you are better gambling on cash out being there than ending up on a horse you don't fancy anyway at shorter than you could have had him?

You're absolutely right though, weigh it up closer to the time and each and every bet is a horse-by-horse, case-by-case basis in these types of scenario.

He is so difficult to gauge right now. Given his age I'd be confident he wouldn't be at the top table with the other novice chasers, however, I could be wrong. My main concern, besides him having any amount of time off the past 2-3 seasons, is that he is only rated 149, which opens up the handicap options too, and he could literally go down any route. I think I'd rather see where he starts off over fences and work from there.

His hurdle run was a lovely comeback and providing he takes to fences even with little improvement a 150 rating looks achievable. Off of 150 even in the Ultima I wouldn't look at him as having 6/7 lbs up his sleeve was my thinking. The extra trip in the NH would no doubt suit especially as so many are still annoyed he didn't go the AB all those years back as he looked all stamina.

A couple of other interesting entries in the shape of Escaria Ten and Eklat De Rire too.

Do they have enough runners to box him in the whole way?

Plenty of handicap jobs going on in there

                          It’s Gordon vs Joseph.
The only trainers with entries (Gordon 4, Joseph 3)

                            • Would it be fair to think that JP/F Berry would look to have min 2 runners in each Arkle,Marsh,RSA > one runner from IRE (M Walsh) and one GB (Coleman/Jonjo) ?

If say only one representative and that one is from GB then M Walsh would ride even if never sat on it before? eg Chantry House Nico or Walsh

Difficult not to think along these lines.

Any love for Janidil for RSA? The markets not supporting this possibility but plenty of stamina through his Grand Sire Hernando and have to consider what Walsh would ride in it.

                              Thanks

From memory, JP has gone some years with no entry at all in some of those races?

I don't think it's their plan to have 1 runner per race regardless, let alone 2?

That is surprising though, you'd think what you've suggested would be a bit of a plan.

I'm not sure, but something is in my head where he just didn't have loads of runners.
