Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

  • Nice start from Chantry, nothing more nothing less. 2 best jumps were the last 2 which is a good sign. Can’t work out whether he was lazy or already wants 3 miles!

I was coming on here to say pretty much exactly this, word for word. Only shortened slightly but glad I look 40's about the RSA.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a fraction disappointed, but it was a good start and I can't wait to see what's next.

      • I was going to say the same too! Just added him at 33/1 for the RSA and really surprised that's still available. In fact Im going to make it 2pts EW instead of 1. He was a bit lazy but looks a really staying chaser. JP only really has Dickie Diver for the RSA who is odds against to even make the Festival... so with the EA factor, I think it looks a very big price. Plenty of stamina in his breeding.

Brought up Chantry House quite a while ago for the RSA, the PTP he unseated his rider 3 out in, he was ahead of Monkfish at the time (who eventually won the race). It was a significant enough point for me to get decent exchange prices, as that bit of form would show up to be plenty good enough with what Monkfish has done since then.

Obviously we can't take the form too literally and who knows whether Chantry House would have still been ahead at the line, but it intrigued me all the same, and is probably not something many would have known or looked into.

I didn't know that COD, excellent info that would reassure those on for the RSA. Hendo was clear afterwards he'd only ever be going up in trip so who know's.

Re Marsh, I would have liked to see him quicker/slicker over his obstacles if I am being 100% honest, but then it was a chase debut on soft ground at somewhere that's not easy, so perhaps I am being harsh.

I did the same just before the off Charlie as I really like the horse, am quite heavily involved in him for the Marsh, and couldn’t face it if he went up to 3m without me! I think that performance makes it ever so slightly more likely that they might do it.

I did also do some brief work looking at Supreme to RSA horses, and I could only find one (although I didn't do an awful lot of research), and that was Shaneshill for WPM, who finished 2nd in both the Supreme and RSA.

                • War of Attrition, Best Mate and Kicking King all finished second in the supreme though and won gold cups albeit WoA and KK went via the Arkle so it’s not unheard of to step up

No of course not, but the step up to 3m chases straight after a 2m novice hurdle campaign is not as common I don't think.

Aye Ascot is a tough introduction for a chase debut. I just put a point any race prior to his run reason being his Marsh price dropped 4/5 points before the race. Covers the RSA just in case but surely a decent bet to drop a horse that much before he has even run?

Not that it means a lot but Mick F surprisingly was waxing lyrical about Chantry House and Shishkins schooling on ATR.

Tbf Mick Fitz may as well be wearing a cheerleaders outfit with pom pom's when talking about any of Hendo's horses

It is a shame as it would have given the form some substance. He jumped the last two like Sprinter Sacre so it wasnt all bad. I am sure Chantry's next run will tell us plenty more.
Positive jumping performance from Chantry House and he came home strongly but I was not confident he was going to reel in Pic D'Orhy before he fell. I'm not sure if this ties in with Henderson's hurdlers than ran below par so maybe Chantry will come on a fair bit for the run.

Beware of that PtP race though as I've seen a comment somewhere that although Chantry was in the lead at the time he fell, his tank may have been beginning to empty.

I'd say it is pretty rare as well
