  • ...TBB now a best priced 12-1 for this.

    • 8s is poor. 12s isn't too bad

      • Had the butchers said not almost unseated the rider looked like he was going to give him a proper race

That was despite clouting the third last too

TBB jumped well but will jury is still out

I think that's fair. I was very happy with it from a debut chase point of view, but jury still out on how he'll manage deeper company in proper races.

He has terrific scope over a fence, that's for sure. Boylesports go 6/1 (according to odds checker) for the RSA which is utterly ridiculous off the back of that.

          • Jumping was impressive, and plenty of left going up the hill. But agree with MOM, its a Tizzard horse, which is a negative for me come March. Not sure to back now at 12s or see what form Tizzard is come March.

            • Him and Monkfish are the two I'm most excited about although I had painted Monkfish as a 4 miler before he won at Cheltenham. Any idea when he's due out?

The winner might just be decent also.
Enjoyed that. Fancied he was decent when he beat Coko Beach. Had a few quid on him today & have him for the RSA so very pleased with that performance. Its well documented that I've never seen LE as an RSA horse, and that's been franked.

                • On the plus side he looks like he's filled out nicely since last season, and he's looks like a proper chaser. He'll definitely improve as the season goes on. On the downside he was very green and still a bit mentally immature. Robbie Power was fiddling away at him to keep his mind on the job. He was also fiddling a bit right at times. I want to see him against a credible rival to see how his jumping stands up when he's under pressure before I could consider backing him. 12/1 is too short off the back of that.

He could be very good and I'll want him onside at some point. I'll take my chances with his price and stake accordingly when he's proved a bit more. I doubt he'll go much shorter than 6-8/1 at any point even if he wins well against better opposition around Christmas time.

                  • TBB ran a very good chasing debut today, and gives a big boost to the Ballymore form of Envoi Allen, Easywork and The Big Getaway, with the latter two now looking even better value for the RSA, than they looked before TBB's race.

My main RSA has always been Easywork and I am looking forward to see him step up in trip next time out, and then running over 3M in the Grade 1 at Christmas.
He seems another one (like Fury Road in the Stayers) that the bookies give a better price than they usually do with good horses (Still 25/1 with cashout), I added him into a few 33/1 doubles for the Festival, when Bet365 went loopy midweek and took him out of the betting and then put him in at a bigger price

if they leave that 25/1 dangling I may go back in again in the next 24 hours.

No concern at all with The Big Breakaway then! Thought that was as good as you could hope for really. Certainly in regards to his jumping. Never a worry and won like he should have. I'd assume his jumping will become less exuberant the more experience they get into him. The only worry i'd have is Power had to give him a reminder halfway. Absolutely no bother today but that coupled with his Ballymore run, I do wonder if he may just struggle as the pace quickens in an RSA.

I do think the NHC would really suit him but I suspect they'll want to go RSA with their best Novice chaser.

Latest Exhibition and TBB struck me today as potential NH horses

                          • Reading a lot about how well The Big Breakaway jumped, did anyone think that he was jumping out to his right at times, it was difficult to tell with some of the more extreme examples on the far side. Im a little unsure how bad it was, coz of the camera angle but coz no one has mentioned this might be just me. Did watch it again and its maybe when the pace was slow, he certainly jumped fine when the pace quickened towards the end. His head carriage to the right looks a little awkward, again might be nothing but in addition to the jumping be interesting to see if he does it again next run. I wasnt as impressed as most on here, the only horse that could put it up to him was on his heels when he made a mistake at the 2 nd last then blundered all chance away at the last, shame we didnt get to see that finish. Clearly talented but id much rather back Monkfish at a similar price, loved his attitude in the Albert Bartlett.

                            • Latest Exhibition was well and truly put in his place today by the winner. Hard to find any real excuses. Not coming from the PTP scene, and not being the biggest meant there was a chance he may not carry his hurdles form over fences. But I actually thought it was a better round of jumping in comparison to his chase debut. He didn't really put a foot wrong. Which would be a concern.

I don't personally buy into the (what was) the 4 miler talk now. I've never thought of him as a boat. He showed a fair amount of pace for a 3 mile hurdler last year and for me taking the 4 out of the AB is the one that could mix it best at a shorter trip. So I don't see the trip being the issue at all. Prior to the race I commented how he is so consistant and always bang there at the finish, which would lead me to write off this race to a degree, at least until we see him again. All credit to Pencilfulloflead but i'll be stunned if he is up there with the best of the Irish by the festival. It was the biggest distance he's been beaten by in his career to date (7L), previously it was a 3L defeat to Abacadabras over the minimum trip. the fact his challenge today petered out so tamely, makes me thing something must have been amiss, the ground perhaps being one. Otherwise, with no clear mistakes, he just isn't good enough.

would have been more worried how high he jumped rather than to the right for me
