Hello Fat Jockeys,

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

  • Midnight Run starts out over fences tomorrow, at a trip I'd imagine will be too short.

A full brother to Carefully Selected, the NH Chase must surely be an option. Either that or a handicap like the Ultima.

Whilst his last two hurdle runs will need to be forgotten it wasn't that long ago that he beat Column Of Fire and Easywork in a bumper. Fences will need to be the making of him, granted, but it's not beyond a possibility.

I can't see that he is priced up yet but he would interest me.

I couldn't touch him for any form of antepost festival bet.

Perhaps they are only wanting to be ultra cautious on his first run(s) back would be my only hope if I had backed,
as in fairness he ran on good to soft in all 3 novice hurdle runs.
Possibly one for the Welsh National one day.......... although Henderson has never won any national of any description so maybe not.

I’d be pleasantly surprised if he’s a natural over fences COD, he’s physically a lot smaller than Carefully Selected & really wasn’t very fluid or scopey over his hurdles last season.

If he drifts out to a silly price tomorrow I may have a little interest on him e/w as his best run by a mile last year was his first so he goes well fresh. But it’s a hot little beginners chase.

I have little interest in him tomorrow but long term I would imagine there is some sort of plan with him, he's not a bad horse, but for whatever reason really struggled in his last two runs.

          • The Big Arkle trial today is not at Cheltenham but at Punchestown (12.15pm). 2 winners of the race have gone on to win the Arkle at the Fez and 5 winners have gone on to be placed in March. If either Felix Desjy or Darver Star win today, they'll surely go a strong 2nd fav behind Shiskin.

            • 15/8 Felix Desjy with Boyles is looking a very tempting price, hes going to go from the front and play catch me if you can. Granted his jumping LTO wasn't foot perfect, you'd be hoping he will improve for experience as will Darver Star but I would make FD favourite on their chase debut performances personally.

              • Nicky on Shishkin starting point..

                Q. When will we see Shishkin?

He’s two to three weeks off a run and we’ll be looking for a novice over two miles. Oh, actually! Kempton – on a Monday – 2m2f – the same race Altior won on his Chase debut.

Same Darlo.. I actually took the early 6/5 thinking he would shorten. I’m tempted to go in again at 15/8

I think FD will be the perfect pacesetter for DS. Darver Star will sit behind him and pick him up 2 out. That's how I see it panning out. Will be a good race to watch though.

                      • The jumping right came into play once he started hurting a bit near the end.
Wouldn't want to back that just yet.

                        • Still jumps right, couldnt have him for Fez at this stage

                          • Thought that was a decent enough beginners Chase.

What did we learn though? AF can jump a fence and that he jumps right no matter what the obstacle is or if it’s a left or right handed track. Conflated looks a decent handicap chaser in the making. That’s pretty much it.

                            • Not interested in Asterion Forlonge as I am Conflated, but that's for the handicap thread

                              • He was perfectly straight until near the end, it is obviously when he is under stress that he does it.
Plenty of horses do it, but some do it to the extreme.
As someone mentioned previously, you'd not want him running against Envoi Allen when it mattered.
