    FYI COD (PN from yesterday)

He was a brilliant novice over hurdles for Willie Mullins but hasn’t run for 920 days so obviously had his problems before he was sent to us by Malcolm Denmark in July. He has done lots and lots of steady work but whatever he achieves here he is bound to improve for the outing after such a long lay off and if he has a nice run round and finishes fourth or fifth I will be absolutely thrilled with him. Then he will go chasing.

Yeah, I've seen the quotes for him.

He also didn't finish fourth or fifth, he finished a staying on 2nd, ahead of the current Stayers Hurdle Champion. They may just have a little rethink. They also may not of course haha!

As I said, it will depend on his next entry. Any sniff of a hurdle run and I'll probably back him for Stayers, or a failed chasing attempt and again, I'll probably back him for the Stayers.

      • Id imagine the owners bought him to be a chaser and at his age this is pretty much his last chance to start

I'd rather be on Roksana for the stayers with the allowance.

Even though her trainer said they'd likely avoid Cheltenham and go to Aintree instead?

            • Dan Skelton wants to take her to the Long Walk Hurdle.

I would think “Cheltenham or Not” would be decided after that race.

if she beat the best of the UK there in a Grade 1 with a decent performance then I’m would think they would have a Stayers entry.

Most of her best performances have been over 3M, she’s only ran in three 3M races, with two 2nds in Open Grade 1’s agains the geldings (close behind the winner both times), and her facile win today, in a Grade 2.

Her overall Cheltenham form over shorter trips is very good too, a Grade 1 1first and fourth and a Grade 2 second.

Why plan for Aintree and miss Cheltenham - this year you would have wasted your time, and not got a run anywhere in the Grade 1 races.

.....anomaly with Sky RaB; they now have Envoi @ 16-1 and 20-1 to win the GC in their list. Also, 33-1 to win Marsh & then 2022 GC.

High possibility he may bounce next time after such a long lay off , personally wouldnt touch him with a barge pole for any Cheltenham race at this stage.

                  • Paul Nicholls said of Next Destination: “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with that – it was an awesome run. He’s been off an awful long time. I couldn’t take him away anywhere to gallop because the ground has been too firm, so that’s probably the first time he’s worked on grass since the last time he ran.

“He travelled beautifully and jumped beautifully – he’ll be a right chaser. We’ve schooled him over fences and I think that (novice chasing) will be the plan now.”

                    • I see QUEL DESTIN entered in a Nov Chase at Warwick next Friday. This horse really does not have to imrove much to be top class in this sphere. Relishing soft and heavy ground he hopefully will do well in the winter months ahead with the Arkle the final destination. He's going to be an awesome chaser according to Nichols, lets hope he's right and he gets his ground come next March. I have had an interest at 50/1

Haha, whilst that is true.... he is just bullish on everything, and he can back it up?

I think 33/1 for Next Destination is a decent price for the RSA if people can cash out if he flops...

ND was a horse loads of us fancied not long ago and today was impressive enoough?

I went through the archives (that sounds so sad ) and he was extremely well fancied by all the right people back in 2019, and was 10/1 fav for the RSA when sidelined through injury. Yesterdays run was really good when you think about the 900+ day absence. PN and HC have both said it was just to get him back and he goes novice chasing, so hopefully they will be aiming him at the RSA. Juice starting to go out the price, but he's only 8 going on 9 and PN is superb with novice chasers. I'm just glad he has time with him.

That has to be a huge worry - it is to me anyway.

I'm trying to think of any horses that have been off the track for that long and became grade 1 winners. I'm struggling to think of one.....

It was a big worry pre yesterday because his wellbeing was anyones guess. After a run like that I have hope but 33/1 was right on the line.

                                I can't think of any.
