Never really been a fan of Hobbs when it comes to training these onto the next level

Not watching racing. Why on earth did he end up last of 4, 70 lengths adrift???!!!

          He jumped like a twat.
Although only marginally worse than Defi du seuil did on his debut over fences. And look what happened after that.

And that's about as clutchy as it gets.

Although I've not backed him so don't care.
He's off my list for now.

Smashed into the 1st fence, lost all confidence after that. Couldn't jump whatsoever

              Arkle: Elixir D'ainy and Unexcepted
              Marsh: Sporting Life
              RSA: Chantry House
              NHC: Dickie Diver

              Handicapper: Janidil

Not sure where Andy Dufresne would slot in.
              Interesting Marsh selection there.

That stat re horses making their chase debut at Cheltenham is a very good one me thinks !

                      • Beware “silly season” where every good winner, regardless of what they beat, gets slashed for the Festival, as big improvers this season.

I’m sure Darver Star, Felix Desjy, Unexcepted, Fusil Raffles, improved their chances of an Arkle showing, on their first Chase run (or 2 for Fusil), but they probably will all meet better opposition in November, and then the pecking order will start to form, before Christmas provides the skeleton for the Festival betting.

It’s Cashout bets, for these types early season, if you have it, unless you are an individual race book-builder.

The placed horse were 130’s hurdlers at bet, decent but not the sort that are going to run in Grade 1’s in March.
                        FD beat even less.

It’s great to see these 4 out and winning well, and an Arkle market that has started buoyantly behind Shishkin.
"Journeys to Glory, breathing in his head".

Agreed. Need to be very selective and hold back on some, take a breath, and think again. I'm more the race builder. 3/4 in most races, 1 or 2 PT maximum on each and 10 PT maximum each race with a plan to at least double my stake. I normally leave the Handicaps alone AP and just do Ew cross doubles on the handicaps on the day. No more than doubles on any AP bet. It's a plan that's paid dividends for a few years now so no need to change.......yet !

                          • Andy Dufresne entered up at Wexford over 2m on Monday. He should be winning it if he's as good as many believe but I don't think it's a straightforward task.

Not sure many are very hot on him now.

You’re bang on Saxon. We’re on page 176 and the ‘strongly fancied by some way ante post favourite for the last 7 months’ won’t be running for another month, by which we’ll be on page 200 then. A sport with more opinion than any other.

I’ve watched for the last 3 days Bottas nail every single session at the Portuguese GP.......then come qualifying? Lewis on pole.

In essence?? Do it when it matters, not when it doesn’t. Go and beat Shishkin in the Arkle, not 5 months in advance when it doesn’t hit any headline.

Sport only matters when it matters.
