Right you are. Will have to top up my Elixir bet now. Thanks for that.
Just so you know us cool kids call it 'insta'

That headgear is rather Jazzy isn't it?
Cool kids definitely don't say Jazzy.

    • 1. Shinskin

      2. Felix Desjy
      3. Elixir D'ainay

Will be my three plays for the race
Had a free bet on captain Guinness which doesn’t look great after that run wasn’t too impressed by darver stars debut either

        3 very exciting choices.

Due to the prices I'd much prefer Elixir D'ainay to win at the moment.

Too early to get carried away though of course, he's not been seen in public yet

        • Have enough singles on Galvin so doubled him up with Shewearsitwell and Al Boum Photo before he hopefully qualifies for NHC tomorrow. Can envisage another price drop if that happens.

For the sake of your Galvin firework display you now gotta hope Willie keeps Janidil away from the NH Chase!!

He'd better had. We are all hoping for a walkover.

I thought the AB was a very odd choice for the horse last year myself, and would be thinking he'd come back in trip rather than step up.

Haha, I'll definitely end up on the correct Mullins runner somehow... how easy it is to spot is all part of the fun

                      • I'm also surprised that Unexcepted is still available at 22/1 for the Arkle. Maybe its because it surprised most people but I dont think it would have surprised them in the yard.

Maybe someone else might know more like Archie but this horse has always been held in very high regard as far as I can tell. Mullins seemed shocked at how bad he ran at xmas. Cant remember the exact quote but it was something along the lines of we think hes a really good horse and should really have been at Lepardstown contesting the good grade ones.

From memory I think Patrick held him up at Limerick which didn't help. He couldn't have looked much better the last day and he will get a lot of horses out of their comfort zone going forward with jumping like that from the front.

Glad to see there is another Unexcepted fan on the forum

I was a massive fan of his after his hurdles debut, and he was initially my main Supreme hope last season, until that Leopardstown run. I could and do absolutely forgive him for his Limerick display, over a trip likely to be plenty too far at a track that is most notably a bog, and against a horse that ran a blinder at the festival behind the superstar that is Envoi Allen. When he won his on his hurdles debut there were a few on here that said he had beaten nothing, but them nothings turned into a second placed horse, Jason The Militant, who has won three times since, including a Grade 2 Hurdle, and a third placed horse, The Very Man, who won 4 of his next 6 starts. He beat them with relative ease.

I'm still baffled by what happened at Leopardstown, as were connections, but based on that chase debut he showed that whatever it was could well be behind him. It's gutting that Captain Guinness went wrong as I'd have liked to have seen how he fared against Unexcepted at the end of the race, to give the form a little more substance, which is my guess as to why the prices remain as they do.

I'm not sure on his limitations over fences, but he is certainly an exciting front running, bold jumping prospect, much like his half brother, Great Field.

Where do you stand on any potential ground dependency?

I don't currently, I think there is insufficient evidence to draw conclusion.

The only thing I have doubt about currently is his actual ability at the top table (probably because officially he was only rated 137 over hurdles). I think he'll definitely be good enough for listed/G3 level, but as opposed to getting to the top, only time will tell. As said, it is annoying/frustrating about what happened to Captain Guinness, as I think that would have told us a little bit more.

He was not on my shortlist and I’m still firmly on the fence at present. Those soft ground novice races can produce exaggerated winning distances and his only try on better ground was when he flopped (may have been other excuses though). He’s still a price I’d consider if it wasn’t for my concerns over the ground.
