Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

Word of warning though ... I've backed this horse and I've literally never had any returns of any kind from the bumper.

So good luck with this project

    Any reason particularly?
The 2nd poker dainay was beaten 60L on his next start by one of Giggis lesser horses.
I know the form of his Galway win hasn’t worked out well but I thought he was visually impressive showing a lovely change of pace turning for home. Joseph O’Brien had mentioned the Champion Bumper as a target before Gigginstown purchased him privately (after his Galway win). Taking a chance with the bet365 cushion that the O’Learys will allow Joseph to continue with plans. He’s a full brother to Carefully Selected so you know he’s going to stay well and in recent years the Champion Bumper has suited those types.

    • “Jamie said he couldn’t pull him up after the race. He’s a big raw horse. He might not be a Cheltenham bumper horse this year but he’s a horse for the future. He’ll probably have one more run this season but it probably won’t be in Cheltenham."

      • “He’s still only learning, and Jamie said he couldn’t pull him up after the race. He’s a big raw horse, and we like him,” said Elliott.

“He might not be a Cheltenham bumper horse this year, but he’s a horse for the future. He’ll probably have one more run this season, but it probably won’t be in Cheltenham.

“Malone Road probably won’t make Cheltenham the way things are going, but maybe Punchestown. It’s not career threatening, but it’s holding us up.

“When you miss six or eight weeks this time of the year, unfortunately that’s what happens.”

        • Even if Envoi was to go to Cheltenham, I'm just not sure about him. Can't put my finger on it but wouldn't be backing him at short prices even NRNB. Just doesn't get the pulse racing like Malone Road did. I remain hopeful that MR will make the festival. As he was always going straight there I wonder whether his injury has been exaggerated to just stop the constant questions about him that Gordon was having to field. And - as has been mentioned in this thread - he's still being backed for this.

Dosent sound good for Malone rd. But as a backer a shred of hope is better than none.

            • Mt Leinster pulled hard the whole race. I think Malone Road was flattered.

That's a bold call. But may not be worth discussing by the sound of it.

                • Seeking advice...
How likely do we think Envoi Allen will turn up?
I've quite a bit on a 33s and he is currently sitting at 5s with my cash out looking fairly juicy..

With all the comments coming from codd and Elliot it does look like he'll skip the festival, but surely with the same owners as Malone Road, if MR misses chelt then surely EA will be considered?

I really dunno what to do.....

                    I cashed out.

I don't expect him to run. Elliott doesn't usually change his mind and he's said he is one for next season. I don't think Malone Road changes things and I don't think the owners are in it for "short-term wins" (So they won't just run Envoi Allen if it isn't right for the horse just to make up for MR being injured).

If comments start changing regarding him running then in the New Year, when NRNB is available, I'd consider putting the "profit" I've cashed out, on him win only. I think it's unlikely I'd do that though

                      Guess this fits best here.

Content enough with that run today, he traveled beautifully, thought he might give the favorite a race of it but maybe just shy of fitness at the business end of things and Jamie Codd is probably value for a length or two over Hamilton in the last few furlongs. If Joseph sends him down the Champion Bumper route id be confident of him squeezing out some improvement. Bet365 cut him to 20’s so can cash out for small profit down the line if he’s being saved for next season.

Envoi Allen looks a proper staying chaser in the making. Beautiful NH sort he’s definitely one to look forward to over fences. Classic case of whatever he does over hurdles being a bonus.

I think you are spot on with your views here. I took a look at Envoi Allen at the sales and whilst he stood out as an outstanding model he seemed something of a shell that will only improve in the coming years...were he mine I would never consider running him in the festival bumper looking to the longer term.

                            • Didn't Elliott say after Envoi's first run he would have one more and be locked away and wont be going to Cheltenham?

Now hes saying he will have another 1 run and PROBABLY wont be going to Cheltenham.

Hmmmm, maybe he will change his mind, who knows.

                              • I've one point on envoi allen, and can currently cash out for 4. However, my points are a fiver, and tbh I'd rather have a fiver at 33s with a slim chance than £20 in my pocket. In my week comes down to £20, it probably hasn't gone too well!
