  • We have some nice unraced horses who will be starting off in bumpers. They include two winning pointers we got from Pat Doyle – Appreciate It (4g Jersey - Sainte Baronne) and Asterion Forlonge (4g Coastal Path - Belle Du Brizais) – Monkfish (4g Stowaway - Martovic), who won a point-to-point, and Ontheropes ( 4g Presenting - Dushion). Lorvon Pearl (5m Gold Well - Dont Tell Betty) and Blazing Emily (4f Presenting - Blazing Tempo) are two nice prospects for bumpers. Blazing Tempo won ten races and gave us our first Galway Plate win.

Perhaps a tad disappointing for the forum that there’s been no mention of Enugermene yet in RPs pretty exhaustive tour, plus the note on bumpers above.

    • I'll be looking for an Irish trained Mare in the run-up to the fez bumper.

I disagree with this comment. Picking out Willie, as he has tended to run a few, history shows us the yard has an incredibly poor record of which of their string will perform best, when judged by market SP and Patrick’s ride. Obviously young bumper horses can massively improve over the season, and likewise horses that show nothing at home can really shine on the track.

In short those on Malone Road at juicy prices have a very nice ticket indeed, however in general I think it’s a difficult race to get a handle on this far out.

Mt Leinster opened up 8/11 and Malone Road 6/4. Malone Road went off odds on at 5/6, so there was late money. There's no definitive right or wrong answer, we are speculating on Gordon having an opinion on which one he thinks is best. Obviously we haven't seen Envoi Allen yet but as the person who trains them both and as the person who reports back to Cheveley Park Stud, I suspect Gordon will have an idea as to which one he prefers.

            • Obviously there may be nothing behind this but thought it was worth posting, from a random on twitter yesterday...

'I went to Cheveley Park Stud on Tuesday and said to one of the guys there that I noticed CPS colours are appearing on the NH scene now. They've purchased around 20 NH horses. I said Malone Road looks a gd one and the chap said he's not the best one & singled out Envoi Allen.'

Sorry, I was referring to no real move in the market for the Champion Bumper from the Elliot yard.

I’m sure he has a view on which he prefers, but my point is it can and often will all change between now and March as more evidence emerges, and even then they often get it wrong on the day. I’ll be interested to see how the valuable Dublin racing festival bumper will bring the good ones together so we get a better idea of Irish form.

                • It would be pretty scary if Evoi Allen was better than Malone Road.....

A couple of those namely Monkfish and Asterion Forlonge are mentioned the P2P dossier and are on my watch list.

I'm not sure that makes them great supporters as such but it shows a liking for Aintree. Now they're investing big in younger horses they may want to head to Aintree with some of them as well.

It could be me getting five from two two's, but owners are often creature of habit.
Oooooh yes - it has all come flooding back! They bought Seeyouatmidnight last year or the year before didn't they.

You're absolutely right. I'd completely forgotten.

                        • Malone Road is a weapon.

I've been trying to convince myself he's not because I didn't take the fancier price but watching it back, that was just superb.

The dilema now is.... is 5/1 a good price! (the 7/1 didn't last too long!)

He's a beast. Be very hard to beat him let alone find one that can quicken up and go with him.

I did tell you at 28s lol.
