He's a bit late on the prices!

On a side note, he has an entry for the Ballymore Leamington Novices Hurdle this weekend, IF he runs I suspect it to be his final one before the festival and for him to be beat, if he wins it then nothing from that race will be winning a Ballymore, that's for sure.

    • Yeah , C.T said after Rockpoint won at Cheltenham, ...No doubt we will come back here for the Al Bartlett in March.
.......he will definitely have another 1 or 2 runs ...you can see , he's not out on his leg's today.

      • Im not an Emitom backer, but for those who are, I see he is being dropped back to 2m this weekend which wouldn't suggest this race is the long term aim?

Looks like Ballymore will be the target if he's good enough.

          • Potentially very informative race at Warwick tomorrow. Birchdale does look very short in this company.

Would imagine he will be fav if he wins this.

Doesn't make much sense that Rockpoint is top priced 16/1 for the AB versus 25/1 Birchdale and 8/1 versus 13/8 tomorrow! Even allowing for the 5lb.

            • Iv backed Birchdale for the Ballymore so interested to see which way this goes..

I would only guess because this is Rockpoint's confirmed target where Birchdale could still drop back for the ballymore?

Greatrex just wants to run him though, so I wouldn't be too sure about targets, he also said he's then hope to run him again quickly and think he mentioned ballymore trial at end of january. Depends how he runs in the race after the 2 mile race as to which they go for.
Doubt I'd back a greatrex horse for the Ballymore myself.

Yeah, it's also a trip possibly too short for Rockpoint and I suspect he may get done for a bit of speed, coupled with the fact he has to give them 5lb too and the fact Birchdale's target is still up in the air, you can see why the festival odds differ.

How rockpoint fares tomorrow will be a decent guide as to pace vs stamina

Same. I think he's the main ballymore horse for hendo. Needs to do the business tomorrow. And do it well

His entry in the tolworth last time and the visuals of His 1st run, to me. Show the ballymore is his trip. Wherever Geraghty wanted him, he went. Then opened up decisively.

JP would happily run 2. As he did in the bartlett last year. And many races in previous years . Looks the right race for both to me.

                            • I've Birchdale covered for both races at 20/1 but personally think Champ will be their Ballymore horse and if Birchdale stays this trip well and wins tomorrow he will come here. As jackie pointed out earlier on the thread, they took the same route with Mr Whipped last year and I do believe trainers are often creatures of habits with prep races.

I would be happy to leave Birchdale alone if he ran in this race.
