I noticed Draconien's wins only came on right handed tracks and when tried on a left handed he fell, so I hope he starts his chasing career on a left handed track, considering he will only have a couple of runs according to Willie.

You'd imagine he would take in a beginners chase and then either the 2m race at Leopardstown at Christmas or at the Dublin Racing Festival. 2 runs before an Arkle would not be ideal.Originally posted by SAMCRO View PostComment

My first ride on Sunday is in the Arkle Trophy Trial Novices’ Chase (13:50) and it is an exciting one on the Philip Hobbs-trained Defi Du Seuil. He was a really good juvenile hurdler and while it is always tough for any juvenile going into open company the following season, he just didn’t fire in his couple of starts last season for whatever reason.
He seems in good shape now though. I’ve schooled him twice over fences myself and was very happy with him. When I got off him after winning on him at Aintree as a four-year-old, I remember saying to Philip that he would be well able to jump a fence if he wanted him to, so now is the time that we get to find out. I’m looking forward to him.Comment

He got the job done nicely at Uttoxeter on his chase debut and I think he will have come on for the run. I believe he’s an out and out two miler and he should bounce off the ground but taking on the likes of Defi Du Seuil is a completely different ball game. He’s in great form however and it will be interesting to see how he fares upped in grade.Comment
