  • He’d also run has a lovely 2m racecourse prep run a couple of days before his Punchestown CH race!
If he went chasing I’d be on like a tramp on chips but given his injury and time off I’m inclined to believe he won’t go chasing

He was never going chasing (rightly so being flat bred) and obviously never having the scope for it, according to to GE if he can rekindle his old zest he’s a potential Champion Hurdle contender! He’s as talented as he is bonkers if Gordon has him race fit again I’ll definitely be onside again, he has an engine that you can’t ignore imo!

Never been beaten when jumping off with the field before that Punchestown CH run as a novice! He has more gears than Samcro over the minimum distance for me but his jumping is inferior despite Samcro not being very economic.

        • If Labaik is the champion hurdler, why has Elliott moved heaven and earth to get Samcro to have a go?

          • Don't know , Different owners ??. he does say a long way to go after the injury Labaik had , but back in Training.
Not one i've bet on , But i suppose if he ran and ran well , you might consider it.

            • Not one to be relied on.

No doubting his talent though. Sluiced past Melon although Melon has 100% improved past then as the Supreme was only his second run.

              • Labaik is a thorough rogue who should have been banned from the Supreme.

Worse, much worse. A couple of weeks before the Festival, he refused to race for the third time in a row but the starter allowed him to go about half a furlong behind the others and jog round with a final losing margin of 100l. He should have picked up a mandatory 60 day ban. Coincidentally, one of his owners at the time was a convicted gangster.

penalty or ban for the racing infringement. ??.

The recalcitrant Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Labaik is the subject of a High Court order as a result of an application by the Criminal Assets... Read More

                        • The owners who were in the parade ring at Cheltenham looked like central casting for Peaky Blinders. It's hard to believe that no-one else knew about the guy.

                          • Makes sense now why Gordon said 'still a few things to sort out' when asked about Labaik on ATR

Shouldn't hold that against the horse though.

The non starting doesn't bother me as much as it would on the flat (as in having an issue with the stalls) but refusing to jump off doesn't affect much other than punters does it?

                              • I used a £5 free bet on Labaik for the Arkle. He is a complete lunatic of a weapon though
