With the Fat Jockey Top Tipster competition now a distant memory, time to offer a new competition, The Fat Jockey Grand National which, subject to sufficient interest, will start two days after the Aintree version on Monday 12th April .Hopefully this will help maintain interest in the forum between the Aintree and Punchestown meetings, although I suspect the competition itself may run a tad longer.

The reason I am giving notice now is that there were more than 50 wishing to take part in the previous competition at the beginning of the year which we just about managed, but I would prefer to restrict this one to 40 players and 4 reserves as it will involve a lot of work on my part until numbers thin out plus I wish to avoid regulars missing out if they do not log on for two or three days after Easter and find entries closed.

This is a different type of competition and not something I’ve tried before. I will post the thread up on the evening of Easter Monday once the Irish National is out the way, giving you time to digest the nuances of the competition before deciding whether you wish to take part and maybe plan your tactics, as it is every one for themselves where you can choose to take risks or decide to play it safe which in turn can dictate whether you go all the way to the end of the competition or even whether you are eliminated on the first day.

Entries will close at midday on Sunday 11th unless fully subscribed beforehand. It would be really helpful if entries were in earlier as Middle_Of_March has intimated he is going to make a book on the competition and would probably appreciate the extra time to form a market.once full entries are known with the added advantage of giving forum members more time to post virtual bets whether they are taking part in the competition or not.

If there is insufficient interest no worries, but as it involves a fair bit of work on my part during the initial stages I would be looking at a minimum number of entries to make it worthwhile, say 25-30.(I know, no pleasing some people )

Entries only on the competition thread when posted please.
