    • What’s everyone’s opinion on Gun Digger in this? I personally think OK Corral, Discorama or Impulsive Star win this.

      • Il be sick if impulsive star wins this, i backed him last year like most of us did but didn’t give him a chance this year so have left him out

He'll run a solid race but I'll be amazed if he's good enough to win this. It's going to OK Corral or Ireland imo.

The pin has landed on Beyond The Law as the replacement. It looks like he definitely wants soft ground and hopefully a trip. If you take out the runs on quicker ground then he is better than a complete rag. Also races prominently which should mean he keeps out of trouble.
Pleased they have declared Beyond The Law. Disappointed they haven't looked for anything better than the stable amateur.

Although Whisperinthebreeze is a shorter price I think he would be much better over a much shorter trip on good ground.

Conditions might well turn this into a real war of attrition which might not suit those at the front end of the market.

            • I have to put forward Johanos for this...I know it is a bit left field but he is in exceptional form at home and has been looked after with this race in mind. There wouldn't be any better 66/1 shots this Cheltenham and young Kieren Buckley gets on so well with him. I've had a healthy bet each way on this fellow and suspect he may shorten come the day.

              • Finale on Day One - RP :

Top of the list are Ok Corral and BALLYWARD, with Ballyward slightly more persuasive now that they are faced by this new trip.

                Atlanta Ablaze
Stays 3m1f; soft ground?; in a much more competitive race but firmly in the mix on form

                Ballyward
Won 3m Grade 3 at Naas on latest start, where he looked sure to stay further; good claims

                Beyond The Law
He's hooded first time and with a renowned Festival trainer but looks up against it.

                Chef Des Obeaux
Shouts stamina but the strong suspicion is that one or two will prove too good for him

                Clondaw Cian
Tons to prove over fences in particular; showed little at 66-1 in this race 2018; new yard

                Discorama
Virtually upsides Ballyward in Grade 3 at Naas (3m) on latest start only to fall

                Gun Digger
Needs marked improvement; leap into the unknown over this trip; tongue tied first time

                Impulsive Star
Won big 3m5f handicap at Warwick (good) in January latest; 24l fourth in this last year

                Jerrysback
Looks very strong candidate for move up to 3m; with nearly 4m it's hard to say; good form

                Johanos
Made satisfactory chase debut after a layoff but he has so much to prove in this race

                Just Your Type
Looks a stayer and sports headgear first time but he also looks raw and has plenty to find

                Le Breuil
Not so far off principals on form; well worth a step back up from 2m4f but 4m is guesswork

                Mulcahys Hill
Useful at his best but not solid, including two heavy defeats last year when trying 3m

                Ok Corral
Whether he'll relish this extra distance remains to be seen but he's a huge player

                Plantagenet
Won handicaps on two of last three starts; great deal more is required today

                Skipthecuddles
Acts on soft and stays 3m well but he was 6l behind Le Breuil at Newbury; stiff task

                Warthog
Did not persuade with his stamina at 3m last season; big work to do on form, too

                Whisperinthebreeze
Impressive in good 2m5f handicap latest, after 2nd over 3m1f; good ground seems preferable

                      • Looks as if the layers are really out to get OK Corral. Almost as big for this now as he would have been for an RSA.
