    • I agree, nice form in the book over both hurdles and fences, jumped very nicely, ate up the hill. Probably be better again for not having to make the pace. A lot to like at this stage in a race with no standout candidates.

      • Poor from On The Blind Side but was a tough ask first time out. You only have to look at Defi du Seuil's Chase debut at Cheltenham a few months ago where he finished last of 5 some 25 lengths back. Wouldn't write him off but you'd need to see a huge jump in performance next time out (as DDS did)

Very happy with Lostintranslation there being on him any race. He'll end up over 3 miles for sure at some point down the line as the finish today showed but surely goes for this race in March.

Can't quite warm to DDS still (despite flagging him up as a potential Arkle horse) - just think his jumping may find him out at the highest level

        • Sounds like Colin is thinking the RSA for Lostintranslation

            Hopefully Robbie power sorts that.

I would say common sense when weighing up the strength of each race will send them to this race but it is Tizzard

              • Tizzard talking about a step up in trip at some point, which the ITV team interepreted as a tilt at the RSA

Exactly, you’re never sure with Colin!

                  • Tizzard would be mad to go RSA. You’ve just proved you have the best two and a half mile novice chaser this side of the Irish Sea. The RSA is a far hotter race! Santini, Topofthegame, LBAR, Delta Work... Why choose to take them on? Tizzard must rate him VERY highly. But strange season tactics if so.

                    • Because they think he's a stayer and they're right.

                      • To be fair on Colin he never even mentioned the RSA. He just said he was a stayer and would ultimately go up in trip, which I think is a perfectly reasonable plan to have. I believe that next season he sees him in all the good 3m chases.

                        • With LIT possibly going up in trip, DDS possibly going down after being beaten and with the other two high profile horses in that race not looking up to much, the NRNB price for Vinndication gets more interesting...10s with Skybet

I can see the arguments for both races to be fair. I’m only on the JLT as I would not be anywhere near as confident in the RSA. However, the trainer is paid to do his job and if he thinks the RSA is the right race then I’ll cash out nearer the festival.

                              He's definitely trying

The Dorset handler raised the possibility of Lostintranslation making his next appearance in the Flogas Novice Chase at Leopardstown in February.

He added: "It was quite interesting to hear Robbie Power saying he should be a JLT horse (rather than RSA Chase), but for me, it looked like his stamina kicked in.

"The owner said we ought to think about going to Leopardstown. That's news to me, but it's a long time before the Cheltenham Festival and I would think he'll run again.

"We'll have a look at Leopardstown, but it's just lovely to win here today. He's a lovely creature and hopefully he can go on and run in a Gold Cup one day."

                              • I think Tizzard thinks any horse is potentially a Gold Cup horse.

I wouldn't want a horse with him, as good as he is, the ignorance to the racing calendar is baffling at times.
