    sounds nonsensical,
Not to me. A horse achieves its final or best figure when mature and at optimum conditions. It will increase it's rating by running faster and jumping more efficiently.

Now that sentence is like rocket science.

          • Anyone think that Defi will stick to the JLT?

I do. He's been specifically trained for the distance of the race. Triumph hurdle winners are usually campaigned over 2 1/2 m to 3m + as they progress.

Be v surprised if not switched
Markets showing Defi fav for Arkle
Worse possible scenario for me is Defi winning Arkle :-(((

he did the same with captain chris
Personally think he'll stick to the JLT, and would be the wrong call to go Arkle, he didnt look comfortable at cheltenham in november

To be fair though that was his first run after a horrible season for Hobbs last year the horse was bound to improve for it. I wouldn't be worried about the trip at all, it's the likely good ground that would worry me.

                      • Only way I see DDS going for the Arkle is if it is worse than 'Good' ground in the description. Whilst his jumping has got better with every race a clip over 2m will see him struggle again IMO.

They go roughly the same speed
Jumping is way better than the first attempt.
Can’t see him being outpaced in an arkle
But could imagine him being outstayed by something in the JLT.
Arkle should suit better with waiting tactics behind strong pace on good to soft

                          • Who are these superfast animals in the Arkle? Expect him to be rerouted.

                            • I have Defi at a decent price any race, and if I had my way he would be Arkle bound.

                              • I expect him to be rerouted- and took the 9-2 on LIT nrnb fast this morning.

He has benefited from having a game of cat + mouse with LIT who set the pace.

IMO he'll be just fine over 2miles.
