    • Have to say I really enjoy the show for what it is, between this and road to Cheltenham it gives me my midweek fix especially when the midweek racing is a bit naff. However for Gavin to have tipped up 5 horses so far and the biggest price was 10-1 is very poor.

      • The tips so far do seem very uninspiring, but when we have access to such a great forum - most things that they put up will have been discussed in depth on here already.

Upping The Ante and Road to Cheltenham are my "go-to" weekly programmes, but I have also started to watch "Off The Fence" with Vanessa Ryle, Barry Geraghty and Tony Keenan.
It's not quite up to the entertainment value of the other two, but Tony isn't afraid to give an opinion!!!

I agree, but then on the other foot DJ put up a 40/1 shot for the Ballymore the week before and some members on here were calling it an awful bet. They literally can't win, as we'd all have views on their bets regardless, a bit like we all have opinions on here opposing or agreeing with each other.

Tony Keenan is a good watch, unlike most other people on these podcasts he will actually call people out on stuff

Agreed completely with what he said yesterday about betting on Ronan McNally, Charles Byrnes etc and the shiskin situation.

I agree in general but there's still plenty of live ones out there at decent double figure prices so theres definitely room for a bit more imagination, especially at this stage of the season.

              • I watch them all , All decent in their own way . I'd be prepared to cut the upping the anti guys some slack re prices .
The bookies are tighter this year and quicker to adjust . ??. i.m.o.

They've got bigger prices of their own I'm sure, as big as we get. Just the timing of their podcast.

                  • Biggest take away for me this week is that Gavin Lynch is 49! Looks younger than David Jennings!

                      Partly agree with that.
however on this weeks show he mentioned he has backed Gallopin des Champs at 7/1 and then on the morning of the show he backed Ahoy Senor (8s).
Those have been available at much bigger prices and if he was a shrewd as hes thought to be you'd like to think he'd have got the much bigger prices a lot of this forum have on those two.

Also, Dj always asks him about his betting for the week and the majority of the time it involves some sort of very short priced double or treble.
This week it was Grangee and Gringo D'aubrelle double that "paid for his day out with his mates at Fairyhouse". Its hardly top tipster stuff.

Maybe he didnt fancy ahoy senor before his run at the weekend?

                        I know I didnt haha

I think he actually mentioned GDC for the RSA in the Cheltenham review show tbf but I may be making that up

On the UTA Cheltenham review show back in March Gavin Lynch did mention his first bet for Cheltenham 2022 was GDC at 25s so the 7/1 may have been a top up. And for someone who leaves no stone unturned with his stats then I’m pretty certain he’s on the juicy prices that were all lucky to be on

Exactly this. The prices they give out are just the prices they are now. They've definitely backed them early doors at much, much bigger. They are no different to us lot.

And if he starts saying what prices he took months ago some people would start calling him smug and bragging. He’s a serious antepost gambler like us all

Fair enough then on Gallopin (and i did say to begin i partly agree) but 7/1 is a strange top up when you have 25s and you have just been impressed enough to back another horse in the race at 8s.
