You could see GL trying not to laugh at DJs selection. He's an awful price at 12/1, imo, and I honestly wouldn't back him at twice those odds.

Haha, I know. I really like DJ as a presenter and he seems like a nice guy, but don't take his tips too seriously. Don't think he does either tbf, he's the first to say when he's had a stinker.

Absolutely, he seems like a top bloke. Of all the horses he could have picked though.....

          • I think the UTA tips this season have been frankly disappointing so far but I've a lot of respect for Gavin Lynch's racing knowledge and Dave Jennings skills as a very entertaining and amiable presenter.

Gavin's take on Bob Olinger and Sir Gerhard was interesting - while not dismissing their Festival hopes he was slightly underwhelmed by both their recent runs.

And he seems to be in the camp that believes Benie DD is bound for the Mares Chase.

            • DJs line on the big breakaway being the most talented potential runner in the RSA has to be a joke

More talented than monkfish? Can't have that at all

We've been here before though......It's entertaining and 40 minutes solely focused on the Festival. Maybe I'm easily amused

Not sure anyone on this site will be tuning in purely for their selections.

                  • I’d happily place lay The Big Breakaway in the RSA if I used the exchanges, can’t see him living with the Irish raiders.

Haven't seen it yet but TBB is an odd pick

                      • Concertista is an interesting one. 5-1 ?
I can't have her as being good enough to beat Honeysuckle or BDD myself.
So it is a bet that only gets good if both the other 2 don't run.

The longer BDD doesn't run the less likely she goes Mares chase.
And it is likely that Honeysuckles task this year in the Irish Champion is going to be tougher, so all but a good win and she goes back for the mares hurdle, especially if Epatante is fit and firing.

I suppose maybe there is an angle BDD goes chasing (which I think she will) and a very slim chance Honeysuckle takes her chance in Champion.

I would have said the longer she doesn't run the more likely she goes chasing, can get more than enough schooling into her on days away / home if needed and we already know how well she's jumps them. There is very little opposition in the division compared to the hurdle race having 1 or 2 where she would have to be really firing to win.
With her if the Chase was the preferred option it likely she would only run once before regardless of the set back before the fesival given the strain they have put on her in the past.

Lot may depend when they get her back

I’m heavily involved with Honeysuckle but decided to back Concertista earlier today at 5s with 365 (before GL put her up...honest). I share your thinking for the most part although I do think if Concertista wins over Christmas and both her and BDD stay fit and well they will be split and it will only be Concertista that comes for this race. Part of my thinking is not only do I like to have a cover bet, is that I have been very confident on the fav the last 3 seasons and 2 of them ended up beaten by well supported/obvious second favs, obvs Honeysuckle last season and BDD beating Apples Jade in 2018. As a Honeysuckle backer Concertista is the only horse that concerns me.

I personally think they'll discount chasing due to her not having jumped fences for three years, and not getting a prep.
I also think Willie would love another crack at Honeysuckle.
And Mrs S Ricci may also be tentative with the chasing angle too.
                              Plus it's a grade 2 vs a grade 1.

But I'd like to see BDD in the chase as she's class.
It would also be good to see all three clash in the mares hurdle too.

Yeah all very fair points. They do seem to want another crack at her that's for sure, unless they do it after Chelt if they think Concer is good enough.

Likely reading into it but when asked last nigth on her Ruby straight away said Mares Chase ...
