I'm reading between the lines here, but do you think she has a good chance in the novices?

    • This is quite frustrating as I do actually like the horse

As Archie says she is definitely the worthy fav at this stage and the price isn’t that shocking is it? From what we’ve seen and what’s likely to turn up?

Ballyadam was 8/1 winning a maiden hurdle for the Supreme waaaaay back and Salsaretta was 6/1 before a fence was jumped this season. I know nobody is saying they were good value but I’d say there has been a lot worse value out there considering we are only 8 weeks away and nothing of note has made a strong case other than Gauloise imo. Royal Kahala but she seems like wanting further so may not even come over.

The Solerina will be the main pointer imo, she wins that showing improvement again then she’ll go 7/4.

      • Ive given the reasons why i think she is CH horse a few times now, im not at the windup, just dont want to keep repeating them.

Energumene, as most know on here, I think she'll win the Novice Mares, as like you I think that there is little to challenge her now and that it is very unlikely that anything will come out of the woodwork from now on in. I do think she's still a value bet at 5's and think she'll go off around 9/4 . That said, any talk of her being a Champion Hurdle horse should be put on hold until she at least wins in March. Of course she has the potential to be a top class 2 miler but we really need to see her prove it first in a proper race at a proper course . Let's us judge her after she runs and hopefully wins the Novice Mares in a way you and I hope.

If she wins on Saturday beating Royal kahala id think she'd go off much shorter than 9/4

Especially if she did it well

            • Mullins has dominated this race but it’s not like other trainers like Elliot & Henderson have not tried to win it as they have had entries year after year but none are as good as Willies mares. Over the past 4 years the three of them have had the following runners:
              2020: Mullins 4, Elliot 2, Henderson 1
              2019: Mullins 7, Elliot 2, Henderson 3
              2018: Mullins 4, Elliot 0, Henderson 1
              2017: Mullins 4, Elliot 1, Henderson 1

its only 2019 that Mullins are a very large contingent but it was a big field of 22 runners. The other years he had around 4 runners. With the current pandemic travel restrictions and Brexit bollocks it’s likely he will only bring a few over. At the moment it’s likely to be who?? Gauloise, Hook Up and Echoes in Rain? They have been impressive so far but the latter two have been beat and this year have genuine competition in Royal Kahala and The Glancing Queen. If Mullins winning streak is going to come to an end then it could be this year. I think those two mentioned are very much capable of beating them.

Concertista? This time last year she was a mare that finished 14L behind Mt Leinster over Xmas and was a double figure price.

Eglantine Du Seuil? I don't think 'came out the woodwork' suitably describes what happened there!

My point is, at this stage in the last two seasons Concertista would have been met with degrees of scepticism, and fancying Eglantine Du Seuil would have been labeled as madness.

49 days away, but lots can change.

                • She'll do well to be as impressive an Concertista, and Concertista is deemed a Mares Hurdle mare.

                  Scrap the Mares races

That performance was ridiculous. She sprinted up that hill like she'd only just started. I wonder what price she was this time last year?

Not sure .... she was 33/1 on 19th November 2019 though

So probably wouldn't have been much different to now. Interesting.

Tipped up the day before the race at 10/1 by Hugh Taylor which started a decent gamble up to the off. Cost me one of my Ladbrokes accounts (cheeky boost to 11s), wasn’t complaining at the time.

I remember seeing Consertiesta on the exchanges at 80/1 in December 2019 for the MNH. I didn’t back her assuming she was injured or something was up. Then on the Thursday morning of the Festival I received a text from my Cousin whose good friend is very high up in Coral stating Consertiesta was the bomb proof bet of the day and she romped home later on. I had a bit on her but no where near what I should have had.

Hugh put up Duc Des Genivres and Roksana that year didn't he on the Tuesday. Huge slice of luck of course but still....

She was just unbelievably impressive. It was quite scary really. Maybe she's one of those horse's that simply comes alive in March at the Fez. Afterall, she nearly did the impossible the previous year, winning first time up in England as a maiden. She has a hell of a chance in the Mares Hurdle.
