    • Just watched back the Hook Up win LTO @ Fairyhouse. If you haven’t already I urge you to go back and watch it again.

winning by 12 lengths on the snaff from what was a decent type.

I really like Gauloise and I am on @ 25/1 but I think Hook Up is the real deal and she is Closutton’s no.1 dart (if SWIW is injured for a while).

as a side note: SWIW was out very early in the season (July & August). Would it not be strange for Willie to send his best novice mare out in the summer if she was his number 1 dart for March? (This is where we need the fishing rod emoji)

      • He has an abundance of riches in this division ultimately, and they can’t all target the same pots

        • Does anyone know when we might see Idoles Des Jeunes?

Has anything been mentioned? Currently 50/1

            Has had a setback
but concertista ran 1st time up here.

Not saying idoles will, but maybe wait until Feb 1st now is she runs at all. To retain Nov status.

Have the season cut offs changed and you can now win after 1st Feb and still be a novice the following season?

News to me if they have, this season they extended them but not seen anything about doing it again for overlapping next season.

                  • Surely they can’t have? You could, in theory, win the supreme 2 years in a row (or any festival novice hurdle/Chase etc)

                    • Any horse which wins a Hurdle Race or Steeple Chase for the first time from February 1st, 2020 until April 25th, 2020 (both dates inclusive) will be regarded as a "Novice" and eligible to run in Novice Hurdle Races or Novice Steeple Chases as the case may be until November 30th, 2020.
And as follows for the 2020/2021 Season:
                      (i) For Hurdle Races, is a horse which has not won a Hurdle Race before April 26th, 2020.
(ii) For Steeple Chases, other than Hunters' Steeple Chases, is a horse which has not won a Steeple Chase before April 26th, 2020.
Any horse which wins a Hurdle Race or Steeple Chase for the first time from March 1st, 2021 until April 24th, 2021 (both dates inclusive) will be regarded as a "Novice" and eligible to run in Novice Hurdle Races or Novice Steeple Chases as the case may be until October 31st, 2021.

                      • Found the above on the BHA site, basically horses winning for the first time after feb can run in novice events until the time most of us regard the season to start properly.

That’s what I thought too; Last years seasons special dispensation had been removed.

                          • The dispensation in Ireland runs until the end of the Royal Bond meeting at Fairyhouse - last Sunday in November or first Sunday in December.

Couldnt agree more on this - There was talk of this being the target for Hook Up last season before she ran in the triumph. I’d be fairly confident she’s the #1 for this as long as Shewearsitwell is out.

She'd have had an allowance in it last year as a 4yo so I'm not sure it means anything that there was talk about it, nothing to read in to anyway?

That said, she would likely go shorter than Gauloise and into fav if she wins up in grade next time out. At the moment, Gauloise has now achieved more, but Hook Up hasn't had chance to. She was entered and supposed to be running over Christmas though wasn't she, and now no entry?

Brave to declare one is definitely better than the other in my opinion, Concertista wasn't the clear and obvious number 1 the year she won it, nor was Let's Dance until much closer to the time etc. (I'm not saying you have declared one is definitely better than the other, just a general musing)
