    Me too JTH.

Backed the 50/1 straight away, think myself and COD had the same view regarding the potential Let’s Dance route running in the triumph and still being a novice the year after. Was far too big and thankfully was, when PP have always been around 20/1 and then 16/1

She's a really sharp hurdler who should give her connections something to shout about this season. She's in the Royal Bond and we'll see if she's good enough for that class. That will determine where she goes for the rest of season.

You'd have to say it was a very encouraging first run for us in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse behind Burning Victory. She's sure to make a name for herself in mares' novice hurdles this season and will give her owner Sean McManus plenty to smile about.

She had a good run at Fairyhouse behind Burning Victory on her first start for us. While she couldn't get competitive when it mattered in the Triumph, she'll be well able to hold her own in the good mares' novice hurdles this season.
This is the first i saw of Hook up , So A Big thank's to SeanRock

        • I was just copy & pasting lads, no credit due here at all, funnily enough I didn’t back any of the three, sided with Gauloise, bit envious of the 50/1 Hook Up tickets now in hindsight!

          • If the favourite has had a minor setback then a break is no bad thing. She has done enough running for this time of the season. Assuming she comes back well I don't see Hook Up in the same parish.

How far is a parish? SWIW 12 lbs clear on RP ratings.,

Considering the next 3 home behind SWIW include The Very Man, who was well beaten when UR next time and Goodbye Someday was easily beaten in a listed race - it could be argued that rating is a little inflated?

The time figures for SWIW look really good, but missing this engagement with Ballyadam doesn't mean it's a positive for her at the end of the season.

Isn't there a chance they were striking whilst the iron was hot, like they did with Airlie Beach?

SWIW was really good on the time figures, no denying that, however it wouldn't be surprising if she's not "the number 1" by March for this race - especially as she'll miss any actually tough engagements. She's missing her mock exame, and you're still projecting her an A*. Taking the mock exams help,

                    • The key with SWIW will be if she can produce that kind of performance on a stiff track like the new course. My immediate thought post race was that she may be a Supreme horse where she can take advantage of her 7lb allowance over the much sharper old course. I suspect Willie has had the same thought, hence the intention to run her in the Royal Bond, to see where she is compared to Ballyadam, and also having the dual benefit of getting a line on her for Ferny Hollow. They’ll know how they both work at home, and you’d have to suspect it’s favourable if they thought it worth running her in the Royal Bond.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

This strikes me as playing the devil's advocate card?

'Parish' would suggest a horse in well clear. Personally, I would think 12lbs is well clear.

Sometimes there isn't really a second in a race. On the day she dismissed the opposition and won with far more in hand than the official verdict. She travelled, jumped and picked up in the style of a very good mare. Goodbye Someday had the run of the race against Shewearsitwell and was trounced. He was then upped to three miles on soft ground, the combination of which wouldn't have suited at all.

Does she really need any 'mock exams'? She might well have already shown enough ability to have a very good chance of winning a Mare's Novice. One run beforehand would be fine, but if not it isn't the end of the world if she is fit and well. That is now a concern, but last time I looked she hadn't drifted alarmingly.

A stiff track could be an issue, but like any horse who hasn't encountered it, we are not going to know the answer until the day. After Epatante's terrible run in this race I am sure that many people ruled her out of winning a Champion Hurdle on the basis that she might not handle the track. Even with some 'evidence' it is impossible to be certain.

Yeah, it's jsut whether we can believe that rating isn't it?

I agree 12 lbs clear would be in the next parish... I'm just unsure of how we can know she's worth that (and therefore declare she's better than Hook Up) until we see more form to back it up.

Could trust the official figures and the times, always some odd ones but the majority are in the right ball park.

How many ball parks fit in a parish

                          • There were five mares entered in the Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle (Grade 1) on 27th December: Shewearsitwell, Gauloise, Gjoumi, Hook Up and Manitopark (all trained by Willie Mullins). The last of those names was a new one for me but, given connections, I thought I'd take a look as Willie sometimes holds his better mares back for slightly later seasonal debuts (the first four have already raced).

When I started looking into Manitopark I kept seeing 'AA' listed after her name on the race card, along with other horses in the race. I've included a link below as to what this refers to as I was intrigued by it. I've no idea if it would lessen her chances at all but the owners know the time of day with French horses and she's with the right trainer too. The entry is also notable and she's only a best price of 25/1 on oddschecker.

Eagle-eyed racing fans will have recently noticed a handful of runners in Britain and Ireland carrying the letters AA in addition to their country... Read More

                              Interesting spot JM.

Walk In The Parks are always of interest when trained by WPM.

Will keep tabs on this one myself, cheers

Yeah this got brought up with Sully doc(as the article quite rightly refers too) when he started racing over here for Honeybollocks. Interesting for those who haven't noticed it before thou My take is if a horse has ability it has ability regardless of the equine pedigree, it didn't do Un De Sceaux any harm did it.
