This is probably more sensible than trying to find alternatives.
    Not foolproof though.

    • I was gutted yesterday after both Gauloise & Royal Khala didn’t win but on reflection they weren’t stuffed so and still competed. On a better ground in a bigger field the stronger pace may force them nearer the front sooner and they both look powerful horses so may take to the Cheltenham Hill better than many other weaker mares in the race. I felt they left it too late to really test the winner yesterday but I’m still hopeful they’ll be fighting out the finish if they turn up.

My main fancy for this race is the Glancing Queen and have topped up on her again. 12/1 is a big price for a horse with the experience of hers at Cheltenham.

        • Alan King in tomorrow’s weekender name checks this again as the aim for The Glancing Queen and although due to run this weekend might not now as a part owner of this horse passed away this past few days.

She is still 14/1 with 365 with other firms a sea of blue today.

Yeah, she's alive and in 'pre-training' but no time line on a return.

                    No, I don't believe so.

Stranger things have happened, but I would personally cash out, and wouldn't dream of a bet on her without NRNB.

Even then, she's unlikely to retain her ability.

Looked like she had a very hard race as well. Surely that will leave its mark

                          • Peter Fahey, trainer of Royal Kahala confirmed in interview on RTV (also trains The Big Dog) that Royal Kahala wasn't 100% the last time she ran, they found a few little things with her and reckon she would be better next time out. Still hasn't discussed with the owners the plans yet for Chelt or Fairyhouse at Easter, but 6s NRNB it still good value about her for MNH

                              • Another free bet on Finest Evermore @ 33/1 NRNB.

I still maintain that Finest Evermore is the best bet in this race @ 33/1. We all know you want Willie on side in this race and Finest Evermore has been completely forgotten for a number of valid, and not so valid reasons IMO.

There's little forgiveness for that run LTO, and people might (rightly for all I know) conclude that listed level found her out. I just cannot believe she gave her true running that day, I think she's much much better than that.

Aside from losing last time out, she flies under the radar IMO because she started in the summer, and Willie likes to start his best novices late.

Eglantine Du Seuil won this race @ 50/1 having started her campaign in the summer, and was beaten on her way to doing it. That was actually pretty decent form running Aramon close which is of course easy to say in hindsight, but I think the same type of under the radar profile applies to Finest Evermore.

She beat very little on hurdles debut but her jumping was genuinely superb that day, fast and very accurate. It was a very good hurdles debut off the back of absolutely hosing up in a bumper.

She then went to Listowel which was her first sight of semi decent rivals. Albeit in receipt of 5lbs, she laughed at Boodles third and now rated 132 Saint D'oroux as they turned in, sprinting clear and not even coming off the bridle. It was visually really very good, and the second that day previously ran Princess Zoe to 6L giving away 6lbs off flat off a flat rating of 93.

I think she's a great EW bet to hit the frame in what is looking a really open race.
