A mud bath might be a slight overreaction

          Is it?

There was 10-12mm before the last meeting, and it was heavy ground
The ground has been hit with snow over the last few days, and the forecasts are showing rain next week... ground will be soft if not heavy!

Not sure why people are quite so frantic about it but the only meaningful measurements will be Friday lunchtime after a drying 3 days and Monday morning after the weekend's rain.

For what it's worth, I'd say there's little chance of heavy going on Tuesday although soft, heavy in places is possible in Sunday's report. Best guess for Tuesday would be exactly what it is now.

It was heavy ground in January but it is currently soft, good to soft in places. Yes there is rain forecast but it'd need to pelt it down Monday night / Tuesday morning for it to be a mud bath imo.

Should have been more accurate with my initial statement

Tues-Wed = Good to soft, Soft
Thurs-Friday = Soft to Heavy, Heavy

Its been riding soft to heavy at all of the jumps meetings run the past few days since racing resumed. Cheltenhams already soft/ gd.soft . and any further rain will make it soft /very soft. If it rains over the four days it will become heavy as at the last meeting. Why would it be any different?

                    Because it's dry-ing until Friday.

Far more likely to be good ground on the Friday (gold cup) than heavy

It's such a sunny day in Surrey and pretty warm the ground will be firm to super rock hard before we know it..

I hope the course continues to dry out and ends up good / good to soft on Tuesday, purely for Verdana Blue to give me a run for my money in the champion hurdle
