We went Gold Cup day 2013. Not as bad as you think.

    • We can now only pray for minimal rain today/tonight

There doesn't appear to be much forecast, other than a few showers. Dodge them and G/S is still a possibility.

        • Clerk of the course Simon Claisse: "I don't envisage the ground drying out considerably in time for Tuesday – we may shed the heavy in places depending on how much we get through the forecast showers, but I wouldn't see it reversing to good to soft."

            • Rain was pretty constant overnight here in Cheltenham however woke up this morning to bright sunshine.

Would be happy enough with that. Looks like Tuesday might be quite nice so might dry out a bit before Wednesday

                  • In Cheltenham now. It’s 10.5 degrees and rising

                    • From what I can see, Cheltenham won't be dodging the next pulse of rain and we can only hope we dodge the showers on Sunday and monday. I still think heavy will be in the going come Tuesday, which is a shame, but people desperately wanting good should cash out now.

Surely if it sheds the heavy then some of the soft will be G/S?

From what I remember it rained when Coneygree won the GC and it made it a lot easier to sneak a pint out into the course

                          • Are you still betting you're house that it won't be heavy?

                            • Looks like the bookies are fairly certain of soft current going by today’s odds available across the board

                              • The forecast weather turned up. Snow and now rain. Soft /heavy who's surprised? Most of the favs prefer it anyway. No need to fret as far as we're concerned right?
