I hope Barters Hill is still a very smart horse and if everything goes well he will remain in training and you'd be tempted with an entry in the Stayers' Hurdle, but if he’s not anything like the level he was at before his injury then he will finish.

He’s been a superstar to us and I’d never ask him to doss around in lower grade races. He doesn’t owe us anything.



20/1 NRNB for the stayers ... would only run if he could win it by the sounds of it.... I'm tempted because I love this horses attitude and if he retains his ability he is exiting in an open renewal

Like somebody else mentioned id have loved to have see him down in trip. Obviously he may not be the horse he was.

Only 27s on the exchanges

I risked it and took 85's on the exchanges prior to KV's comeback race. Hopefully stays over hurdles this season and can head back chasing next

After race at*Punchestown Sun, 31st Dec, 2017 (1st)**

"His engine is in tact alright but his hurdle jumping brain hasn't changed much!. Hopefully everything will be alright over the next week and we'll probably look for something over fences for him the next time. He's not a natural hurdler. The main thing is just to recover from this race and look for a target after that. I sort of wondered whether I'd stay hurdling with him this season but the way he jumped there he's not going to step up in class much more. We schooled him over fences the other day, before Leopardstown, and maybe that's what was in his head but he hasn't the best reputation as a hurdler. We'll probably look for a chase. The Kinloch Brae in Thurles might come too soon. Maybe the Red Mills Chase might suit better. Today's job is done and the next job is to see how he comes out of the race, then we'll look at something after that. The conditions of this race suited. We entered him in other races over Christmas but these conditions suited and he needed all those weight advantages to win" W P Mullins

His rating is lower enough that they could target a handicap but NRNB gets rid of that

Yeah I remember reading early or pre season be might go for a decent handicap hurdle.

I think he's unlikely to run .... but if he did its because they think he had a huge chance and could pick up a handicap hurdle on the way ... No risk.

Obviously kept sam spinner ew at 20s .but i cashed out lami serge ew at 14/1 the other day for stake back. I don't like the way he's going 2m3 next. Stayers still the target but I can't see any way in which his price gets shorter.

Must admit not a fan of supasundae going for the Irish champion hurdle either.

I’m starting to really fancy Penhill for this. Obviously has it all to prove fitness wise but it can be such a gruelling race and you wonder what the likes of Sam Spinner are going to find after several tough races this season. If Willie can get a warm up run into him early Feb then I’ll probably get on board when I see him declared for that. His form is rock solid to me and it seems an open race, especially if on good, spring ground

I'm not sure if penhill comes back at all this season. Was a nasty Injury whilst being trained for the Melbourne cup.

Will be tight timewise for sure, but one to keep an eye on for entries, read on Twitter that he is expected to be out in time for a prep run but that could be nonsense. The Worlds End would be my biggest winner currently and to me is still way overpriced. Back on spring ground and was running a huge race when coming down last year (may well have challenged Penhill for the win). Like the way he’s been campaigned

Supasundae is sticking out like a sore thump to me for this...his latest run in pushing Apples Jade all the way to the line at Christmas was one of the best i'v seen from the horse who seems to be still progressing, he's at his best on good spring ground, has festival form after winning the coral cup last year and the race looks wide open, think he's being underestimated by many i'd have him over Sam Spinner come March any day of the week

Totally agree with this; he also ran well in the Bumper in 2015. When you take into account how Harrington's horses ran last week it makes his run look even better.
