  • Cheltenham form puts me off Brain Power. Finished 8th and 9th in his 2 starts there, maybe likes a flat track

He said at the end Brain Power could be fun over fences too ... although I agree he's not best suited to Cheltenham.

      • Footpad will win easily today. What price will pp open him up him up in the arkle betting????
Currently 33s with other books. I'll go low and say 12s/ 14s

        • I make him out to be the 2nd best horse in the race OVER HURDLES behind petit mouchoir. And with doubt over petit mouchoir well being he could well end up be the best to make it there IF they go down the arkle route. Already backed him 16s any race but if he wins this in good style which he should I'll try and steal some 33 for the arkle.

Think he'll go down the JLT route personally and have covered him for this race mostly. Really happy with that performance though.

Smashed the any race at 16s with bf. And a decent bet at 33s arkle.

              • A brilliant debut over fences. He'd should be favourite for the Arkle after that performance imo. Took 16/1 any race with bf Sportsbook and Paddy Power.

I thought he was lovely over his fences

Last season’s Champion Hurdle-fourth placer*Footpad*made a winning chase debut at Navan today, when making all for an impressive success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase, for trainer*Willie Mullins*and jockey*Daryl Jacob.

Owner Simon Munir’s retained jockey Jacob made all on the son of Creachadoir as the gelding jumped well en route to his his comfortable win over race-fit Brelade.

Afterwards trainer Mullins said “it was a good performance; he is a very natural jumper at home and he did the same here. He's as good as novice as I've seen schooling at home and I thought it was a good performance for a first time out novice.

“I'd imagine we'll look at the Drinmore; the way he was going there I'd be happy to stick at two miles but the Drinmore is two-and-a-half so we'll look at that. He has no problem going two-and-a-half as he was a two-and-a-half mile hurdler.

“He is so well balanced jumping and is a complete natural.”

Paddy Power bookmaker later introduced*Footpad*at 16/1 for the Arkle Chase at Cheltenham.

                          • Think that was a Arkle winning debut from Footpad , breathtaking jumping and struggling to see what can beat him.Thought i was seeing double on betfair as they offered 16s , it was rude not to help myself. Then to hear Mullins comments afterwards, i went to put more on. Went back to market to see he now 8/1 , left it at that.

                            • I'm not sure I've ever had so many bets in the Arkle this side of Christmas:

                              3pts Finians Oscar 16/1
                              1pt Sceau Royale 33/1
2.5pts Petit Mouchoir (combinations of 12/1 Arkle, 10/1 WAR)
                              1.75pts Footpad 16/1 (WAR)

I will not back another horse for the Arkle (or at least that's the aim)
