  • The New One interesting guys? ,
Sam Twisty gave right sermon on this ones chances last spring arguing with Dad to let him step up to WH trip.

Dad won but gave word this season he would if he failed in CH 2017. Most recently Our Nige reckons toying with idea of sending him chasing! Now that is bizarre , how old is he for a novice campaign.

Could be interesting if Wh the route

    • He was entered in a couple of novice chases last season and it never happened. I'd imagine they will seek out more prize money, pick out some weak races 2m-3m and then give the stayers hurdle a go. Pointless going champion hurdle again.

Only ever been one winner aged over 9 of this race in the modern era (post 1972) and that was 1986, Crimson Embers.
Not saying he can't win but NTD knows the horse inside out and if he felt this was the race I'm sure he would have worked it out by now, four failed Champion Hurdle attempts tells me he won't stay 3m.
You might want to consider the any race market if he's quoted, he could easily pop up in the Coral Cup or County now top rated horses can win handicaps....

        • I'd forgotten about The New One winning the Neptune all those years ago. I think he'll stay 3m OK but would be surprised if he's good enough to win the Stayers at his age. Nige should have had a crack at it two years ago.

He's been a brilliant horse, although marginally below the very best over 2m. What a great horse he must be to own and train!

Absolutely! Good news regarding the monitoring of the entries too. Be a few years but should eliminate your VVM niggle ?

              • A step in the right direction Kev.

I have always hated traveling down to Cheltenham in the Monday, still not knowing the final decs. We always go for a few drinks and a meal on the Monday night so I feel on the back foot come Tuesday morning.

I know what you mean. The reason i've never stayed the week is fear of missing out key non runners/switches etc later in the week!
Having Sunday and Monday to look at Tuesday and Wednesday in their entirety is going to help

                      • Me too. If you havent bought One Jump Ahead I would strongly recommend that you do. Mark is so well connected that its really worth taking note of the novices and bumper horses that he highlights and his assessment of their limited form so far is outstanding. Of all the books out there in my opinion its the best.

                          • I bought this for the first time last year and found it VERY informative and it highlights some less obvious horses with exciting credentials.
Have placed my order this morning.

Does anyone subscribe to the update emails?

                            • Yes they are really good also and highlights horses going forward after they have run as a selection, you have to get on the selections quickly coz the market reacts quickly though, which is the only draw back. But last few years the subscription has paid for itself.

                              • The first time I bought it Monet's Garden was in the 40 to follow as a novice hurdler, and haven't missed buying it since.

I'd be amazed if Samcro isn't in the 40. He gets an interview with Ricci so it will be highly informative if Annamix makes the 40 also.
