  • 2017 Cheltenham Festival Betting Poll?

Hey OV - is it possible to allow certain users to create polls in this forum?

I think it would be cool if we list 4 races and list the horses with definite targets (though not sure how many entries are allowed in the polls) to see who comes out on top for a Yankee.

The rules would need fine tuning, but we can look into this more once we know its possible.

Would be good if the amount of non-registered users could vote.... must be hundreds that read and would get involved?

Agreed - its another feature to attract more members.

Start posting some ideas and rules of entries guys. I am 99% certain its possible, with the only issue is if each poll is limited to something like 10 entries.

If possible, it would be better to edit the original race threads and add a poll. They usually sit on top of the forum tables so is visible at all times.

Just a thought, but I'm sure we all know there are plenty of idiots out there who hide behind the anonymity of their laptop, opening up a poll to the world has the potential for abuse, bit like the time Desert Orchid received the third most votes in the sports personality of the year award 1989 !

Having them as members only polls might encourage more people to sign up.

That is only way to do it.

If you click on new thread and write your thread .. below the editor is a box with additional options. There's the option to add a poll.

Thanks FJA, though the poll option is not available in my additional options, well not at my level anyway.

The only downfall to this is if we will end up posting new polls re certain races in different forums we could end up losing traffic to the main Festival threads, so members will be bouncing back and forth with 2 similar threads - quotes will get repeated and or even missed.

I am happy to play the polls this way, though it does needs a better solution.
