What a emotional first time visitor managed to get Wholestone 5/1 then winner of last race Wiliam H Bonney then sad news about Many Clouds what a great race it ran. Within minutes people celebrating cause it won and me old man got it at 8's. Then minutes later atmosphere all of a sudden changed what a horse it was.

Absolutely devastating, probably the bravest performance of Many Clouds career.
The atmosphere turned immediately because it happened right in front of the stands, I will never forget Sherwood several people attempting to console his as he walked past the stands and back to the parade ring and he dismissed them, completely inconsolable.
Events like that are horrific for everyone involved and horrific for everyone who witnesses it, the entire day went flat for me after that.
And just a few mins later Trevor Hemmings Cloudy Dream led all the way and got chinned yards from the line at Donny...

Still shocked about Many Clouds and echo everything that's been said here and across the media etc. The day never recovered from the events and the mood really was heartbreaking which says a huge amount considering the quality of the racing in the day. I've just been watching back ITV's coverage on the day and just seen Oliver Sherwood come on talking to Ed Chamberlain soon after and that brought a lump in my throat still.
A horrible horrible thing to happen but if there's something to take out of it he went out showing the world what an absolute warrior he was. Sadly the day will always be remembered with the passing of Many Clouds and it's taken a lot off the gloss from the day but I have to say what a phenomenal day of racing that was. Many Clouds was involved in what was one of the most enthralling and engaging races I think I will ever see. I really hope Thistlecrack can go onto land the Gold Cup even more so now and add to his legacy even further.
