  • Do not think Limini or VVM would win Champion Hurdle but if have to gamble I would be tempted to go Limini as that run was pretty special. I think I read somewhere before from Mullins that said Apples Jade had fitness on her side and Limini would strip fitter as well. So... was there an issue Apples Jade? Was she not good enough? Has Limini improved that much from last year?

Although Ante post bets have been decimated from Thistle (had it at 10s and doubles with altior at 6s, DDS, VVM in mares etc etc) It is turning out to be pretty fascinating with all the sub plots and question marks

    • I'd have to go Limini for the Champion Hurdle after that. VVM looked the polar opposite of a 2 miler on her last run, and we are not far off Cheltenham now and I've always thought VVM needed a trip and she'll be heading to the Mares for me.

Exactly how I would see it now too. The wild card in Lets Dance who could drop into the mares and let VVM go to the stayers.

Ah yeah, that's true, she completely skipped my mind, but that could definitely mean RR has runners in the big races.

          • Limini not even in the William Hill Ante post betting for Champion H yet.

            • Trainer Willie Mullins added: "The conditions didn't suit us and we didn't have a run all season, so I didn't really know what to expect.

"The fact that Ruby didn't even have to pick up his stick means she has improved a fair bit from last year.

"I'm hoping that will bring her along nicely. The mares' race (at Cheltenham) is what I have been aiming for.

"She has run a stone better than I thought she would."

---- Said this in CH thread I think, but VVM to CH makes more sense.
It makes absolutely LOADS of sense that Limini would run in this race... she won the Novice version last season and the Quevega Mares race today... on route to the mares... it will become a very familar/path route I reckon

VVM has beaten the boys before, over 2m, in a grade 1... .Limini has been beaten ....

              • Just seen the Mullins interview with Gary O'Brien on Atr. Can definitely see Limini supplemented for champion hurdle and VVM staying Mares.

I am probably pocket talking though haha.

                • 9/2 on Betfair 1/5 the odds is a bit of an over reaction...... Even if VVM AND Limini turned up, AJ would be in the 3!?! Few alright horses in behind, Jer's Girl? I'd fancy AJ to make the 3 regardless.... have they over reacted to today making AJ an each way price?

He looked blown away by her. If Ruby rides her will Nichols Canyon end up in Stayers. Wylie lies that race.

Already got Shaneshill in that, and he said he wouldn't run two against each other earlier in the season on FFP.

Nichols Canyon will be the one for Paul.... didn't do too bad against Faugheen many months ago ?

                      • Just watched the Limini race from earlier, along with the reaction from Mullins...

That was a VERY good performance and Limini. I didn't think i'd be saying this before the race but I would definitely go down the CH route with Limini now. Visually that was as taking as a performance from any of the major players in the champion hurdle market for me. Travelled wonderfully, jumping was slick and showed a turn of foot you'd want in a champion hurdler. Looks to have improved considerably from her runs last year and it's clear from Mullins reaction that they were blown away by it too.

I would certainly go with Limini over VVM in the CH now. 2m4 looks ideal for VVM with 2 miles looking to be too short and lacking the stamina for the stayers (albeit see would hold her own in either). Willie is very much a trainer who shifts his pack on how his horses are at the time and with Limini looking to be in such good form and VVM only just coming back to herself I think we'll be seeing her in the supplement stage...

They can't go in the same race surely now? (Not that I believe him saying they would anyway) ...

Also worth backing the vice versa with stake being returned for one bet. i agree no way they go against each other.

                            • PP betting 4/9 Ruby rides Limini 13/8 VVM

I know I may be completely wrong because they are a difficult outfit to read but after watching the Willie and Ruby interviews again I honestly think it'll be Limini in champion hurdle and VVM here in Mares.
