I wonder if Barters will remain as brave and gutsy as he was... a real shame. My first big ante post loss but matters little compared to some of the things going on recently...

Not been anything that is obvious for this race yet that has been impressive each time out. The points made about ADO are still valid and he looks the best so far, but wouldn't take much more than a chimp to spot that

Official that Barters is now out for the season. Really fancied this and will look forward to his return next season where I'll follow him off the cliff

Can anybody see a hidden gem that is yet to race which can make me oppose Alpha Des Obeaux?

Because 7 or 8 to 1 looks very good at the minute??

Gigginstown have a shed load of good ones but almost impossible to get a feel for which ones will head here rather than 4 miler/JLT/ Irish Nation/ Powers Gold Cup.

Champers on Ice is a good shout Billymag. good price too!

OV I had the same bother last year. Expected Native River to run in the RSA and backed it in late nov last year. Only for it to be rerouted.

Really hoping he goes down the 4 miler route myself for the festival but it sounds like plan A is going to be aim him for the top 3 mile races but if he doesn't quite make it then go for the longer distance

Apart from debut he has run at 2m4f as a minimum, which would lead towards thinking he is more of a staying type... RSA.

                        Clan Des Obeaux

Nicholls said: "We knew he was good, Chepstow was only his fourth run over obstacles. He's improved enormously and he's really something to look forward to.

"We'll mind him, I've no big targets but one day he could be very smart."

Sky Bet agreed, introducing the four-year-old at 16/1 for the RSA Chase and cutting him to 12/1 from 25s for the JLT Novices' Chase.

Paul Nicholls on Clan Des Obeaux "He has got a big future. He jumps brilliantly. He takes your breath away jumping and if you have got a horse that jumps a fence like that they are going to go places. Sean just said that is the best horse he has ever sat on."
Paul Nicholls on Clan Des Obeaux
The champion trainer nominated the Dipper Novices' Chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day as a possible destination for his charge.

He said: "He jumped and galloped and this track suits him. Judging by that, he has got a big future. He won well here over hurdles last season.

"At the end of the day he is only four and we've got to be careful to look after him as this is not his season - he will be better at five and six.

"He wants two and a half miles and possibly further. He jumps brilliantly. He takes your breath away jumping and if you have got a horse that jumps a fence like that they are going to go places.

"Sean (Bowen, jockey) just said that is the best horse he has ever sat on. I might look at the Dipper as that might suit him."

Bowen said: "I haven't ridden for long, but in the time I've been riding I've never had a novice jump and travel around there like that.

"As soon as I gave him a kick two out, he's just sprinted and I nearly had to take a pull because we had another jump to go.

"He's a very nice horse and very exciting. Paul has always liked him and always thought he's definitely one for the future.

                        "I was very impressed."

Id love a firm to give me 66/1 on him for next years Hennessy, could see Paul missing Chelt this year and saving him for the Hennessy.

                            Good quotes.

If you do, let me know Billy... that'd make plenty of sense... definitely one for the tracker.

I managed to pinch some 25/1 straight after the race, I can't see him sending him to RSA as a 4 year old.. But saying that I think Paul nicholls has had enough of being away from the top table I think if he has a live JLT horse 4yo or not he will send him.. Which I think luckily for me means aux ptit soins may go for the RSA

Technically Clan Des Obeaux will be a 5 year old come the festival. The last trainer to win the RSA with a 5 year old? Paul Nicholls with Star De Mohaison he could still go that route. Having said that, Nicholls has been much easier on his young horses in recent years and has swerved the festival with lots of them in order to protect them.
