This is one of the few handicaps where lightly raced horses have fared very well over the years, it's something like 19 of the last 26 win and placed horses ran no more than 3 times in the same season prior to the festival, so that is a positive for Diamond King
Not sure why the conditions of this race would suit lightly raced horses when the County or Pertemps, which are equally frenetic handicaps for hurdlers, have seen frequently raced horses fare well....

That's probably true but he is only 5 and 5 year olds just don't win staying races at Cheltenham, he'll probably end up on a mark of around 160 and will (in my view) completely exposed to something lightly raced carrying 20lb less, but progression from 5 to 6 could see him a challenger for that next year....

He won at Punchestown and the plan is to go for the Coral Cup definitely. It's been the plan since he came here really. He's in really good form so we're really looking forward to running him.
