I found this quote from JF re Leoncavallo.

“I’ve also got Leoncavallo for the Triumph, who I’m very happy with,..."

Does this cement his place in the Triumph? Because I am willing to take a gamble on him at 33's instead of Sceau Royal who is as short as 7's.

Every preview evening is saying that this Ivanovic Gorbatov is the worst favourite of the week, someone I know has contacts in Ireland and one of them visited O'Briens yard about 10 days ago and reckons this thing is a certainty.
They say the ground was horrible Leopardstown last time and he could jump out of it (sticky, gluey apparently), better ground and a quicker pace will be perfect for the horse.
Wouldn't rush to back it now but with every pundit saying he can't win and tipping anything and everything against it will only force his price out, but whatever you're reading from the previews connections think this is a proper horse and there would have to be something very special to beat him come the Triumph....

Hope you're right, Ista.

Was a bit short for my pockets, so chucked him in a double with the Broncos for the Superbowl.

Nothing lifechanging, but will pay for the villa if he comes in

I think IG is ground dependent but could be class. Talk of a stone bruise before last run on one of the previews.

Gibralfaro schooled over hurdles in cheek pieces this morning. As a result Wayne rides - great news! Roll on Friday

good alan king stat

King could rule again in Triumph

Aidan O'Brien's Ivanovich Gorbatov is likely to be a warm order in the JCB Triumph Hurdle but Alan King could prove a thorn in his side. The Triumph is a race King loves to target - he's won it twice with Penzance (2005) and Katchit (2007) - and he has an enviably deep squad this season, comprising Sceau Royal, Who Dares Wins and Gibralfaro (left). Since 2000, King's Triumph runners at 14-1 or shorter have finished 1311220F3 (+€9.66), while those at bigger prices finished 55056000.

I've mentioned this a couple times before where I think Leoncavallo is the forgotten horse in this race.

Quote from AC...
“Leoncavallo is interesting as well. He won five times earlier in the season and beat Sceau Royal at Wetherby when I had to make the running on him, which didn’t suit us. Then we were upsides Sceau Royal [at Cheltenham] next time when he unseated me at the last.
“Sceau Royal is 8-1 [for the Triumph Hurdle], we’ve run against each other twice, won one and arguably we might have won the other, and we’re 33-1, which doesn’t really make sense to me when his form ties right in with one of the leading fancies. He must have a solid each-way chance at least.”
The rider in second place in the jockeys’ championship is confident he can add to his one winner at next week’s jump season highlight

Good interview LR. The more you look at the triumph the harder it gets. Maybe a value punt is the answer.
