All this 90% b****cks is just part of the Mullins/Walsh/Ricci axis of evil smoke screen.
Mullins squirmed horribly on Tuesday when asked why he wasn't going for the GC.

I think he'll be backed off the boards this afternoon go off at about 4/6 and then win by half the track metaphorically giving a large V sign to all the punters who backed him for the Gold Cup.
That's what I was trying to say, I think they had to come up with a face saver for Ricci after he said it was the Gold cup or nothing, EV money available now, I think that might look very big come 3.0 pm

    • It must have been all planned about BB paying out for the Vautour single bets. They were probably the lowest price of all so not many punters backed him there, and now they make out they are the good guys so others will use them next year with the WM ap bets.

I learned this year that you don't need to place bets 3 months prior to get value. I managed to get 25's on Kings Palace 2 days before the race and he's now 12's.

Another I backed yesterday was Childrens List at 20's for tomorrow's Martin Pipe.

      • I agree LR, I will be waiting until NRNB next year for any ante post bets.

        • Next year will be an even bigger minefield than this, so many superstars so few options

            • Exactly MMG, he won it on the bridle. Thankfully I was on but it still seemed bittersweet cos I would have loved to have seen him line up tomorrow.
              Djakadam must be some horse!

I couldn't back against Vautour and struggled to pick a winner w/o. So I backed the tricast.

Glad to hear it LR, taking some back is what it's all about, however you do it

                  • If anybody on here still thinks Vautour shudnt have ran in the Gold Cup then I'm giving up this game...you know what the problem is...Ricci has so many good horses now that there aint enough races to accommodate...we thought this year was hard..where do Djackadam, Vautour, Douvan go next year, along with Annie, Vroom Vroom and Limini....???

                    • Ante post next year will be a complete non starter. Even the ones that I feel we can be sure about, Douvan in Champion Chase and Vautour in Ryanair, those are already odds on.

Huge amount of guesswork now. The one that I'm keen on for next year is Thistlecrack in the Gold Cup. With all the riches at their disposal, both Ricci and Mullins will go without a Gold Cup for a few years yet.

                      • I agree with what Ian said.
This is a an organisation that places horses to suit them, which they have every right to to do of course, the problem is that with an owner who is a massive attention seeker who enjoys every camera and microphone thrown on him anything he says is taken as information and he has a responsibility to the wider (betting) public.
He would be strongly advised next year to reject every preview invitation but I bet he doesn't....

                        • When I watched the race I thought this horse should definitely have been in the QM, the free running style is tailor made for that race in my view, still not convinced he would get the Gold cup trip, but I can't have this idea that Douvan is better, don't suppose we'll ever see them in opposition though. Given the ground conditions this would probably have been his best chance to get the Gold cup trip but I don't think he would have won, have to agree with the comments about the poor treatment doled out to punters though, as if it's not hard enough
