  • Russell is excellent at previews.

Great judge and heard he makes some serious dosh trading horses.

Asked how many horses he would be running at the Festival, Nicholls replied: “Not as many as normal, that’s for sure. We’ve got some nice juveniles for the Triumph and the Fred Winter but most of the other [novice hurdlers] aren’t good enough or strong enough or done enough yet this year.

“There’s no point running horses just for the sake of turning up. If they’ve got no chance, I’m not going to run them. You’ve got to be realistic.

“We have still got some really nice horses to run, some nice horses in the handicaps.

            • Certainly worrying that the mullins favourites, 1st choices, big guns or whatever they may be are letting down big time and under performing just a mont out from the festival but his 2nd and 3rd choices are coming good instead, are these so called back up horses just simply training on from the 1st half of the season or is something just amiss...???

Agreed gjt, this ground is killing the form, and probably lots of fez chances, all falling by the wayside today, should have kept them at home

                  • It's a funny situation because right now i feel like i need to go and lay all my bets now because there all multiples and they all include the likes of bellshill, shaneshill, up for review, pont alexander etc and they have all just put in the worst peformances of the season, will they now all break for 5 weeks and come back to their best at the festival, will willie decide now to even leave a couple of them at home after their peformances, not what we as punters want coming up before the biggest meet of the season!!

                    • Anyone think that Bellshill just suffered with the ground?

He's ran on heavy just fine when unchallenged upfront, but when one came upsides him, he seemed to burn himself out.

                      • It was interesting that ruby didn't even want to go for it with him, as soon as the other two joined him into the back straight he just stood up and coaxed home, whether something was wrong or ruby thought not point giving him a hard race and just rest him for the festival now... Who knows apart from ruby and willie

                          • Ivanovich gorbatov is still a selection for the triumph in my opinion, I don't believe that debut run over hurdles was by any mean a fluke and I believe he can confirm the form come Cheltenham and the obriens will have him ready

Got 5 minutes, so have scrapped them all together. The Good, The Bad & The Ugly is definitely a perfect description
