Yes stats are a good guide but as you say it's been done 3 years ago and TNO didn't exactly look like he was short of a run the way he came up the hill last year. I'm not saying it is a positive but my point is I wouldn't be using it as a reason to take him on.

there is another stat about novice hurdle winners not following up in the next seasons champion Hurdle - if you exclude Katchit (juvenile) Hardy Eustace was last from Supreme/Neptune to follow on in the next festival.

The reason I'll be taking Faugheen on is simply he's going to be running against horses rated on a par with him for the first time and 3 of them at that.

Fair play and good luck to you. He does have four strong opponents. I would like to take him on as well but I'm struggling build confidence in anything else. Arctic Fire to run into a place would probably be my only other bet. What what you take him on with at this stage?

I'm in the Jezki camp, for me hes the one to beat and at the prices is a stonewall ew bet to nothing.

I don't think you'll be far off with Arctic Fire. If conditions are similar to last year I think he will beat The Fly.

I was on him in the County Hurdle last year and counting my money jumping the last, but then there had to be one. Was on him at 14's ap.

I think Jezki was a decent winner of this last year but I always have a problem with backing a previous seasons champion because so few follow up, and his form this season has been less encouraging than last. Having said that if you look purely at which horse has done what this season, and don't muddy the waters with Cheltenham form, ground dependency etc, there can only be one winner, Hurricane Fly, if only it were that simple, but the facts are there to be shot at and followed, or opposed, he's played three won three in the exact same grade one races that Jezki was 223 in, Faugheen has beaten little in the build up, and TNO has struggled to beat very ordinary opposition, Arctic Fire has finished behind the Fly each time they've met but finished ahead of Jezki once, Irving was tailed off, with excuses, at Christmas, so there you have it, back the Fly. I actually already have, this fellow owes me nothing and I can certainly see him being in the frame, in fact I struggle to see him being out of it, but that's why we all enjoy this forum, debate and opinions, that's what makes the fez such a great spactacle.

Terrific horse HF but I couldn't contemplate backing him unless I knew the ground was going to be soft. If conditions are similar to last year there are four horses that I would fancy to beat him.

Had a look at the Kingwell ...sign of a victory needs to be winning this if he is going to the Champion Hurdle.
