The Grade 2 Finesse Juvenile Novices Hurdle run over 2 miles on Cheltenham Festival Trials day should be a pointer to the JCB Triumph Hurdle at the festival proper but only Katchit has doubled up in the last decade.
Rolling Star and Irish Saint were the the two runners featuring most prominently in the Cheltenham antepost market for the 2013 JCB Triumph Hurdle before the race and they pulled well clear of the rest of the field.

- Neither Nicky Henderson or Paul Nicholls have won the race during the last decade.
- Two Nicholls trained favourites were palced second in 2012 (after stewards enquiry) and 2010.
- The trainer to be with in in recent seasons been dominated by Alan King. He has trained four of the last six winners with Katchit winning and the other three placing in the Triumph Hurdle. King has no runner this year.
- Four of the last six favourites have won but there have also been 100-1, 50-1 and 25-1 winners in the last decade
- Only three of the last nine winners had an official rating (in a range between 129 and 148)
